We're really going to let Gift Orban go to Lille for only 20-25 mil when they will sell him for 2-3x that in only a year or two to some PL side..all to settle on Morata or pay 40 plus for Balogun? Marotta is dropping the ball here IMO.

Very rarely you go from Belgium league straight to the top Italian club and succeed. Lille is a perfect next step for such a guy. The guys playing in France are the guys hoping for the next step to be a club like Inter.

I’m not entirely familiar with Orban but I do know Inzaghi and how our club generally is towards young players. He’d be getting the Asllani treatment and it’d just be wasted money. Money we can’t afford to waste.

I don't disagree with anything you have said but with this clubs financial situation you are going to have to take some risks. Completely different circumstances but we took a quite a chance on Onana last year, albeit he was free, and it's the only reason we have any budget to spend this mercato.

Orban is more talented than any player to come out of the BPL in recent memory, I can't imagine him doing much worse than Hojlund did this previous year for Atalanta and he's a player we would certainly be going for if we weren't so financially limited. If we want a player of this caliber we have to get them perhaps a year too early since our budget doesn't look like it will improve anytime soon.

Our club operates the opposite of how you're suggesting. Rather than take risks we pursue low-cost solutions and/or "safe" options. We know exactly what kind of mediocre forward Morata is going to be, so Inzaghi and Marotta prefer him.

Yeah Balogun would likely end up being cheaper over the long run as long as he doesn’t demand a crazy salary. Plus you have a chance of reselling the player for a good value. Morata would be a good Dzeko-type low cost signing but 20mil fee plus the salary he would ask is just too much.

There is no dilemma here, balogun all the way for me. And if simone wants his experienced striker as well, he can tell his favorite son correa to fuck off to make place for that type of signing.
this team has no balls to freeze Correa... Even tho it should have been communicated to him that he has no room in this team. Guess Inzaghi still loves his son.

So, according Di Marzio, there is no clause in Morata's contract, and Atletico want 21.mln due to some taxes or whatever. Arsenal are ready to accept 35mln+bonuses for Balogun.

For now it seems that Balogun is more easy to grab, as Atletico will hold on those 21mln to the end. There is enough interest in Morata, so they can afford to wait a bit longer. Let's do some math.
Balogun for 35mln and 3.5mln net salary for 5 years contract, will cost us around 12mln amortization per year. Morata for 21mln, 5mln salary and 4 years contract - more than 15mln per year. Small difference, but Balogun will have some release value at the end, alike Morata.

We'll be the last buyers of Morata in his career. His best next scenario is to keep loaning him until his contract expires or on mutual termination. With Balogun, however, we can still ship him back to England with good payments (unless he turns out to be as bad as Gabigol which is unlikely).

If Balogun is just 35M then go for him, Morata for 21M is too much. If we can ship Correa to Saudi then we can get both (or find a less expensive solution than Morata)

Looking at the prices of available strikers, their age & quality, my preference for Lukaku replacement would be:

1. Taremi, 20-25m
2. Hojlund, 50-60m
3. Balogun, 30-40m
4. Scamacca, 30-40m
5. Nzola/Beto, 15-25m
6. Morata - should not even be an option

My preference for Correa replacement would be:
1. Dybala, 20m
2. Sanchez, free
3. Boulaye Dia, 25-30m
4. Morata, 15-20m
5. Keep Correa

That said, I prefer the combo of Hojlund+Sanchez coz of the future+experience combo. However this may be unrealistic, so Taremi+Dybala is what I would do in Marotta's shoes.

Also I disagree that 50-60m is too overpriced for Hojlund. If he were an Inter player, I would be gutted if we sold him for any less. You gotta price in the potential & Hojlund has got that in loads.

Lukaku replacement :

1. Too expensive
2. Going to MU
3. Under 35m we get him maybe
4. Not interested
5. Last Backup option
6. All in Inzaghi favourites

Correa replacement :

1. Too expensive
2. Inzaghi hate him
3. Not interested
4. Already know to replace Lukaku
5. Most probably
