The complete picture is:

Juventus:
1) Last in the table 2004/05 - scudetto taken away
2) Scudetto 2005/06 taken away
3) Serie B with 30 points deduction
4) Moggi and Giraudo: 5 years ban

Milan:
1) 44 points deduction from 2005/06 = no Champions League
2) 15 points deduction from 2006/07
3) Galliani: 1 year ban. Meani: 3 years ban.

Trio relegated, Milan survive
Friday 14 July, 2006

Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina have been demoted to Serie A for their involvement in the Calciopoli scandal, but Milan have survived the drop.

The eagerly anticipated match-fixing verdicts were finally delivered this evening after seven days of deliberation by the CAF court.

Juventus have been stripped of their last two Serie A titles, sent down to Serie B and will start the new campaign with a 30 point deduction.

Lazio and Fiorentina have also been stripped of their Serie A status and will start with minus seven and minus 12 points respectively.

Milan have kept their place in Serie A but have been deducted 44 points from last season’s tally which means they will not be allowed to enter the Champions League.

The Rossoneri will also start the 2006-07 campaign with a 15 point deduction in the First Division.

Although this evening’s verdicts are strict, they are lighter than the ones called for by the FIGC prosecution team.

Stefano Palazzi had called for Juventus, at the centre of the scandal, to be relegated to a Division “lower than Serie B” and deducted six points.

He also urged the court to relegate the three other teams to Serie B with a 15-point deduction for Fiorentina and Lazio, but declared that Milan should only be docked three points.

All the teams involved do have the right to appeal.

I think the Verdict was okay, with a penalty of minus 30 points it will be very difficult for juve to get back to serie A if not impossible. Fiorentinas and Lazios penalty was fair. Milan's was to soft, 15 point behind should theoretically eliminated their chance for winning the scudetto, but we have all seen Inter lose 15 point in no time at all before. :wallbang: And Roma is very unpredictable.

as I have understood it Milan will receive the 04/05 scudetto, or that is what I have heard, are there any truth in that if there is I'm seriously pissed off. :frustrat: :yuck:

If Milan receive the 04/05 scudetto, then Inter will receive the 05-06 scudetto. ;)

The punishment could have been much worse for Buventus. They should be grateful they're weren't sent to C or docked even more points. Toni is practically ours now with Viola going down to B. :boogy:

BBilan should have been hit harder though. No surprise the judges we're more lenient towards them, being Italy's other big team. 15pts is nothing when looking at the strength of the league next season. All the more important that we get off to a great start.

Personally, I wouldn't feel satisfied if Inter were handed Lo Scudetto like that. I'd rather they go out and win the 06/07 title.

Well, after months of keeping our fingers crossed, the impossible has finally happened.

Juventus have been relegated.

Their 30 point deduction is massive, really. Their chances of getting promoted are ever so slim now. They could be spending 2 seasons in the 2nd division from the outset.

Milan's punishment is trivial, at best. Whilst I am not one to speculate the level of Rossoneri involvement with regards to the scandal, the result is extremely dubious. A deduction of only 15 points?

Meh. :D

Anyways, did anyone look at the teams now in Serie B? Juve, Lazio, Fiorentina, Genoa, Napoli, Bologna, Verona, etc.... There's more 'big' clubs in B than there is in A. :p

a very important year for many people and especially for me...

if the verdict stays, we are now officially the only club in italy who never goes down to B

it's probably the sign that berlusconi still have some power...
and this is probably 'good' for serie A, at least serie A has one more big club in it... We;ll still see derby of Milan next season.....

derby d'italy is gone as we are now the only 'never b' club... if people still consider goobi vs inter as derby d'italy... We will probably only see them in Coppa for the next 2 years...

time for shopping, Supermarket in Turin is officially open..!

Juve got what they deserve! I feel sorry for both Lazio and Fiorentina though, they’ve been ruthlessly sentenced, are you telling me they weren't as bad as Merda? :( (Oh well, I guess it means we're getting both Toni & Ibra now ) was hoping they would stay in the top flight with some points deduction, but screw Juve and as for AC Merda....****** you Berlusconi!!!!!!!!! :finger: :boxing:

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gilli has confirmed there will be an appeal against the verdict which has condemned the club to Serie B.
Following the outcome of the match-fixing scandal which has blown apart Italian football, Juve have been relegated from Serie A.
The Old Lady have also been stripped of the titles won over the past two seasons and been handed a 30-point deduction for next term.
Cobolli Gilli is upset with the severity of the punishment and is hoping for leniency when the club's appeal is heard.
"Juve are disappointed with the relegation and the 30-point deduction suffered," Cobolli Gilli told RAI tv.
"We don't accept this responsibility that has a weight on the club and that would have to be put on the shoulders of former officials.
"We will appeal and we will do everything to allow our reasons to be accepted."
Fiorentina have also been relegated for their role in the scandal and will start in Serie B with a 12-point penalty.
The Viola will join Juventus in appealing against the sanctions and feel the verdict is 'profoundly unjust'.
A statement on Fiorentina's website read: "Fiorentina take note of the verdict made by the Federal Appeal Commission - a verdict that is considered absolutely not right.
"With reference to this, Fiorentina underline with strength, the absolute correctness of its officials' behaviour.
"For the respect of the city, supporters and of the dignity of the persons involved, Fiorentina will struggle in every way to ascertain the real events."

Luciano Moggi spoke once again about the scandal rocking Italian football, a few hours before the verdict comes out.

"My name came out only to create a scene, but I'm not the only one.

"Juventus did not need any help, but only to avoid disadvantages. The managers do this: try to win, but without any disadvantage.

"I don't feel guilty of anything. I laugh when I hear people talk about a 'Cupola'; also Carraro said that he was pulling my leg. So many people have been indicted, but the only one who did something wrong is Moggi."
