Suning sponsor Modric to Inter?

Inter’s parent company Suning could reportedly help pay Luka Modric’s wages if the midfielder joins from Real Madrid.

The Nerazzurri are trying to sign the Croatian this summer, and the 32-year-old has reportedly told his club that he wants to leave.

According to today’s Corriere dello Sport, the plan would be to bring Modric to Italy for four years, before a move to Jiangsu Suning to close his career.

Both the Beneamata and the Chinese club are owned by Suning Group, and the company could effectively sponsor the midfielder’s move.

The Chinese conglomerate would top up his wages by making Modric the global face of their brand, thereby keeping Inter within Financial Fair Play limits.

That’s a similar approach to that taken by Juventus with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, as it’s thought much of his €30m per season salary will be earned through sponsorships with FCA, the company controlled by the Agnelli family.

Suning is one of China’s biggest companies, with a revenue of around €18bn in 2016.
