I honestly think SMS would be the better option, not disputing Modric is better option for this year but as an investment SMS is without a doubt a better alternative.

Not quite that simple. You need to think of it in accounting terms. A 20m loan fee isn't a capital cost for a player (asset), it's an expense for a fee (we don't gain an asset). So we can pay that fee using things like incomes from the CL or sponsorships, instead of needing to sell players. This is why we're deferring all our buy options into next year.

Luka is a star, some sponsors will come, he will sell couple jerseys, we can offload Borja to Spain, maybe even find a buyer for Vecino.

Also, if Luka arrives Real will probably push for SMS and Lazio will be loaded so Vecino or Mario could end there.

We wouldn’t be so deep in this that we don’t have money planned.

this is true.. modric dont said a word in this days. Be it on instagram or in some interview, he said nothing about this rumors.. this makes me think that he already made a decision.
Im not saying im sure about this and that Modric will join 100%...

I suggest people actually watch SMS before saying things like this. The dude needs tons of space to operate. In tight spaces he gets bullied off the ball, and looks atrocious. I'm surprised he even "succeeded" at Lazio (can't trust Lotito's hyping). He's more of a Yaya Toure/EPL player.

This is a really good question and the base of this rumor. That we would be able to really pay Modric some serious money to lure him.

Icardi will definitely ask to double his salary (actually he's almost doing it already) and rightfully so! Obviously what Modric has is few CL trophies, WC final spot and WC Golden ball, so there's that. Just interested to see can we really make it work if the rumors are even true.

This constant silence though is promising. Some random Perez quotes and obviously nothing from Modric. Not sure if the same was with CR7 but somehow I remember it being a bit similar.

I missed the part where Icardi was voted as the best World Cup player, had won 4 CLs, and was a Ballon D'Or contender. If he can't understand the circumstance, then fuck him.

The SA with Uefa is about to be over in next June. Ausilio sold our primavera players so we can respect the SA and next June, after Uefa will check our numbers, they should "release" us and than are under the regular rules of FFP, and we don't need to sell to buy. The reason we are loaning player is that we can register them to CL, not because of our budget and FFP SA.

8M for Icardi is more than what Modric earns in Madrid today. If he complains about it, it's his problem.

Look at him! I said it more than once: if he comes, he will be the best midfielder I've seen at Inter. And I support this team before Moratti era.

I was maybe the most vocal supporter when I said Inter should try to build a spine with young players and not look what other teams are doing (Juve). And still believe that would be the best approach.
But for a player like Modric, there is no discussion. If have the possibility to take him, you do it every day of the week and twice Sunday.
