Obviously I won't make judgments yet since it's possible the news are wrong as they are often with Spaletti's 11.
But there is no reason Vecino should start this game. We've already seen that Gagliardini/Brozovic has worked before. I'm not saying they should be our starters for years but they've done well together both in smaller and some bigger games too (away Samp, derby, etc.). Vecino put in such a horrible performance against Sassuolo that if Gagliardini can't get a game now, when can he?
Brozovic also didn't have a good game but he's so essential to our game that you can't really drop him, plus coupled that he had to play with Vecino who was even worse, and it wasn't easy.
