Personally I thought he had a really poor world cup. Fluffed a few half chances he should've done better with, but more importantly, he didn't succeed as a ball carrier, two-way midfielder, however you want to describe him. He essentially did what he did against Sassuolo. Instead of just passing sideways to Brozovic and D'Ambrosio, he just passed on the responsibility to Bentancur and Caceres/Sanchez. He does a lot of closing down, but can't really tackle, and he lost the ball every fucking time he needed to pass it forward or to someone further than 10m from him.

Same old Spalletti. IT took him ages to understand Valero Vecino is disastorous, and ony when we switched to Brozovic and Gagliardini, who understand eachother well, we started to play better. But IT was Gagliardini and not Vecino who played the best with Brozovic. New season starts, and what happened? We go back again to Spallettis favourite Vecino, and not Gagliardini, who mind you had the whole pre-season with him, and not Vecino who had extended vacations after WC, and it shown during that match. I won't even, mention Miranda and Brozo who had the same problem. Those 3 (Brozo, Vecino and Miranda) should never start this match, but you know our coach...
