Genoa really looked really quite awful tbh. We played good enough to get the 3 points and I guess that's all that matters right now. Also, we looked a million times better once Cuchu got off the damn pitch. Guy is done. Hopefully Mazzarri realizes this. We can't expect to win games against better sides with him starting.

I don't know Genoa was never a threat but when we started pushing up more in the second half we really could have been caught out and conceded, kinda reminds me of Siena at home last season that time we conceded a goal and were screwed.

Yea I was reminded of a lot of our matches last season. We do shit in first half, and then concede while trying to be aggressive in 2nd half or just by a stupid defensive mistake. But that was a recurring theme. We have to start out strongly, that's something Mazzarri has to change.

Most of the counters are cleared under Mazzarri's tactics by trying to win the ball back in the midfield.

We are definitely fine and covered in most situations, our team seems to be able to get back relatively quickly too. Losing the ball in the attack, we can still win it back in the area between the midfield and the attack, but losing the ball in the midfield would be a bit hectic (which I believe was also a problem for his Napoli side).

When our midfield does get exploited (which happened and will happen), well, then the defence will just have to deal with it. But we definitely look better covered than many games last season in this one game, because of the work our midfield is putting in.

I actually did, but it automatically merged into one post.

It was just poor connection all of a sudden and I happened to click post three times as I ran out of patience waiting for it to load.

I remember when we played against Mazzaris Napoli, there where times when they deliberately let us dictate the play, and then in one moment BAM!
we didn't even know what hit us.

good solid display on sunday i felt

we have a clear style of play via the flanks and even if naga and johnathon are not the best wing backs they will have moments where they shine this year as so much will go through them

defence looked solid bar that one jonathon lapse of concentration and when kova came on we looked more technical in midfield.

upfront we didnt offer much till icardi came on,that needs to be addressed

but overall top3-6 looks possible with current squad/tactics.

handa - 6 - not much to do but his rushing out did stop genoa taking lead in second half
campa - 7 - all over the pitch!
rannochia - 6 - cut out the pirlo passes!
juan jesus - 7 - a man mountain,so strong in clean tackles
naga - 6 - good goal but bad crossing
jonathon - 6 - better movement than naga but again poor passing
cambiasso - 6 - poor distribution,workhorse though
kuzmanovic - 6 - i like him, a good passing display and quite mobile by his standards
guarin - 7 - bit more like the guarin of old, must keep himproving.
alvarez - 7 - always looks dangerous, also becoming stronger on the ball and in winning it back
palacio - 6 - quiet game but well taken goal

subs:

kovacic - 7 - gave us attacking impetus right away
icardi - 7 - made us more threatening, great poaching instincts
taider - 6 - not much time to make impression

How bout..

Handanovic 6 - Alert when necessary
Campagnaro 7.5 - Overall strong display
Ranocchia 6 - Eh.
Juan 6 - Some good mixed with bad. Such a turd since the 2nd half of last season.
Nagatomo 6 - Such a turd.
Jonathan 6.5 - Decent, but everyone is still judging everything he does overly positively because of the contrast in how utterly disgraceful he was before the final third of last season. He needs to take it a level higher. Otherwise he's just a slightly slower, more technical crapatomo.
Cambiasso 5.5 - Jesus shit, he played some fucking long ball in the FIRST FUCKING SECOND. Couldn't believe that shit.
Kuzamanovic 4 - What a garbage cunt.
Guarin 6.5 - Was far better when he kept himself under control, but still toiled against a fucking terrible Genoa team, arguably the worst since they got promoted in 2007.
Alvarez 6.5 - Still leaves a lot to be desired.
Palacio 6.5 - Hard-working performance but he shouldn't be played as a lone CF.

subs:

Kovacic 7 - Did more in his time on the pitch than either Kuz or Cambiasso.
Icardi 6.5 - Deserves credit for getting two or three shots on goal. Score next time though.
