19 shots on goal. 57% possession. fuck, i can't remember when was the last time we managed to do something like this. it's been fucking years. :notbad:

More important part is Genoa with zero shots on goal.. that surely didn't happen since Mou era. Just one game though against shitty team so it's still early to judge.. however, you can already see we are much more organised. So to anyone who said the coach needs time to adapt his style well... eat shit.

Imagine if we started with

------------Handa
-Hugo--------Frog------JJ
johan--------Kova----Yuto
-----Guarin-----Alvarez
-----Palacio---Icardi

Walt needs to work on that formation...:megusta:

I wouldn't work on that formation to start with tbh. Genoa was really weak offensively. Without a defensive minded midfielder we'd be fucked against offensive teams such as Napoli, Jube, Roma, Fiorentina,..

I loved Guarin as Box-to-Box though. He played really mature, so keep him as CM.

Would more stick to a formation like this

---------------------- Handanovic -----------------------
---- Campa ------------- Rano(C) -------- Juan ----------
Jon ------ Guarin ----------------- Taider ---------- Yuto
----------------------- Kovacic -------------------------
--------- Palacio ----------------- Icardi ----------------

Or Alvarez instead of Icardi. We finally have a bench that has players available we can make impact subs.

Capagnaro solid at the back and a much more realiable source of passes into midfield than the other two, as well as a bigger attacking threat.

Despite the early attempts at defensive solidarity once Icardi and later Kovacic were introduced I think we definitely deserved at the 2 goals, it's just a shame Icardi didn't score.

The best part however is despite throwing on so many attacking players I never felt like Genoa were going to score. And let's not forget this is also without seeing quite a few of the new players.

Yea I just heard that on Aljazeera.

I liked the formation but it didn't have Alvarez and that might upset some people here on FIF.

Yeah but I presume with a formation shift that could adjust our strength points instead of the 352 variants.

I came away very pleased.

The Mazzari change is in full-effect. Our superior dominance as far as stamina and work-rate was as bright as the sun.

We just outhustled them and outworked them throughout the 90 minutes, and that's what won us the game - if in the 2nd half Genoa took it down a notch, we actually stepped it up even more and just won the ball back almost at will the second we lost it.

Simply fantastic pressure game, it was a joy to watch and very refreshing opposed to what we were used to.

Juan and Campangnaro I thought had flawless games - really quiet and efficient work throughout the game cleaning up and going out of their position and worked perfectly with the pressure the players higher up were applying.

Ricky and Guarin were pretty poor and unproductive on offense - but if they bring this type of hustle and attitude every game I won't fault them and just can't hate on it.. they gave 110% and left it all on the pitch effort-wise, and that's all I can ask.

Jonathan was very active and looked pretty solid, although he had his usual brainfart forgetting his man in the box for some reason, and luckily it didn't cost us.

Kovacic is just 2-3 classes above anyone we have on the team with the ball. He is simply a ridiculous dribbler. Very Capitano-esque. He just glides past players like he's all alone on the pitch, and does not without breaking a sweat. What a gem this kid is.

When it'll be Kovacic leading those breaks after we won the ball, and not Ricky or Guarin - things will look much, much better for us on offense.

All in all I come away very pleased, and knowing Mazzari our cohesion will definitely only get better from here on out.

Only problem is, we simply CANNOT AFFORD to be behind on a game. We are simply disabled on offense, and 70-80% of our abilities arrive when we're counting attacking after sitting back or applying high pressure - if we get behind and allow teams to sit back, we won't score anything that's not a set piece.

Great start of the season, forza Inter

Why the fuck Kuz is gonna start? He was barely used in preseason, and as far as I know he is currently transfer-listed.

I wanna see Kova, Guaro and Ricky on the pitch together!

you want an injured Kova on the pitch, glad you're not Mazzarri.

remember the genius Strama with his play Milito/Zanetti/Cambiasso/Palacio/Cassano every game they can? dont want that

That's the advantage we have at this moment.

Not only we have a tactical more better coach. We also have a better bench now. Still had Belfodil, Icardi, Kova, Taider, Andreolli on the bench. Then adding Samuel, Milito and Zanetti to it, we have a far more better bench then last year. But still would love another midfielder and LWB/RWB

I only saw the first half of the match due to travel and am now wondering whether I should download the second. :)

I saw good signs in the first, we lacked a bit of quality in final third and had the usual problem of attacking too few vs many, but the team looked a solid unit. And Jonathan seems very well utilised in this formation!

Shame that we have the international break coming now. :(

Alright. Decent win, expected us to win by seeing the first half gameplay. We played very organised but lacked much up front. Second half was so much better, much more aggresivity, more power play, we won more duels, recuperated the ball lots more AND created more chances. The sub of Icardi was the moment the game totally changed. Icardi brought more danger upon the game and gave Palacio/Guarin/Alvarez more space to run with the ball.

Great defense. Solid attack. We need to be more effective though. And seriously need to practice more on crosses. Only Campa's ones were decent. And of course Johhnyboy's assist.

Handanovic : Well did his work. Although he didn't had to do much, he did save the ball. Good.
Campagnaro :Boss debut. Everywhere in the pitch, great addition and helps out on every aspect in defense. Also good crosses
Ranocchia : Decent, won his duels, hadn't much work against Gila, nevertheless promising along Campagnaro
Juan : Boss. Intercepted, didn't randomly fired the ball front except once. Almost no brainfarts. Promising as well.
Jonathan ::datass: Great game by Jonathan. Really fired on his right flank. Worked his ass off, great game! Keep it up!
Guarin :First half bad, second half great. He seems more mature as Box-To-Box. Excellent choice by Mazzarri to keep him on the pitch, and most of all, to tell him to stop shooting everytime and look more for the pass instead. Guaro played mature and had a great assist. Good game overall
Cambiasso :Bad passes, but some nice interceptions. Clearly over the top now. He'd be good as CB now, not as DM.
Kuzmanovic :Also a bad game, didn't do much actually. There was 1 time he went up front and sadly didn't got the ball, he was in scoring position though. His shot on goal was pathetic.
Nagatomo :Very bad first half, Bad second half, but then he scored and suddenly he was on fire. The goal freed him and made him play somehow decent. Nice first goal of Season 2013-2014. But needs to improve drasticaly
Alvarez : Good work, nice moves, always available, trying to force a lot. Played a great game. Love to see him along Kova/Guaro/Icardi. Good game Ricky!
Palacio :Palagoooooool! Nice goal! On first half he was mostly invisible, standing on an island most times. The Icardi sub made him play more open and so he could have more freedom. Good game, lethal striker

Subs

Icardi : The sub that changed the gameplay. Excellent first performance by Icardi, causing instant danger, his aerial work is impressive. Should have scored though. Very promising. [Needs to work on finishing and running though]
Kovacic :Good sub by Mazzarri, Kova ran, created and well he was kind of bossing the midfield. Should play waaay more up front though. Still Kovaaa!
Taider : Promising tackle after his sub. Can't wait to see more of him

Mazzarri :
Excellent debut after weird line-up though. His subs were Boss. Also second half was much better then the first half. Hopefully now he has more of an idea who to start and who not. (Hint Hint Kuz *cough* Cuchu *cough*)
Also kuds for his trust in Jonathan and Alvarez. Many of the posters here would have burnt them in hell already.
Promising debut. Especially the defensive line and pressure he put up :awyeah:

MOTM
Jonathan /Campa

Notable
Icardi, Guarin, Juan

Fucker
First half : Naga
Both halfs : Kuz/Cuchu

MOTM is clearly Campagnaro. Not only he is reliable in defence, but he is a huge addition in offence as well. You can see how many times he popped up everywhere on the pitch to help the offence.

Jonathan surely had a good game, but there was minor flaw where he stood off while a diagonal through ball came to his territorry. It almost costed us a goal. But that's it. He was solid overall.

While Ricky showed great contribution in defence, his creativity is dull as always. He always made himself available for a pass, but too bad he couldn't convert it to killer ball. Remember, Ricky is deployed to create a chance, not for ball retention.

It`s funny everytime we start a new season this song always comes to my mind and I keep singing it during the first week of calcio

Here I am, on the road again,
There I am, up on the stage
There I go, playin' star again,
There I go, turn the page... :epicwin:
