The attack is what has let the club down to an extent in recent seasons, especially when it comes to Europe. Successive eliminations to Liverpool, Man City and Atletico Madrid all came on the back of a lot of missed chances which you can get away with in Serie A, but not at a higher level.

The issue tends to be that for all there seems to have been cover numerically, there has always been a strict hierarchy with two obvious pics and two making up the numbers - whether not good enough like this year, or long-term injured like Lukaku and Correa (he could be in both classes). Martinez and Thuram have carried the attack all season and have probably overplayed, now both are in a slump and there is no real genuine competition to take up the scoring mantle.

Instead of a clear 2+2 structure, I would prefer a 3+1 with the three representing players at a similar level who can drive competition. For next season I'd be really happy with that trio being Lautaro, Thuram and Gudmundsson with Taremi the back-up and perhaps Carboni as a fifth option, one who can also play as an attacking mid.

Worst case scenario will be Lautaro, Thuram, Taremi + the dreaded return of Correa, or another veteran in Immobile.

Isnt Immobile under contract.

Inter would not be throwing any amount of $dollars$ Lazio's way.

Until next summer yes, but I think he's unhappy at his treatment there and would push for a move like that and Lazio are moving on now too and would probably be happy to shed him from the wage bill.

GdS writing that Inter also like Zirkzee but he costs double of G-son:
So watch out for the big shot, the player who tickles the imagination: that of Albert Gudmundsson is already known to everyone, it's no mystery how much the Icelandic's profile is liked by the entire Nerazzurri world.

Next to him here is Joshua Zirkzee: it's new, the Dutchman from Bologna is also in Inter's thoughts. Thoughts today that are only apparently prohibitive, but the market paths are unpredictable.
Arsenal reportedly offering Zirkzee 6M contract..

In England they report gross salary.

The only way the club could contemplate signing both Gudmundsson and Zirkzee is if they sell Thuram first.

And is likely also what is going to happen either that or someone else of high market value.

Thuram and Martinez are sought after it will take some for both to stay. Especially knowing the respective wages they would be set to receive from any such team, offers we won’t ever be able to match.

It will be entirely on them to stay or leave.

As it seem Thuram has a release clause, that we aren’t likely going to say no to a plus 100m offer on Martinez,if such ever arrives on him. All our players are commodities that can be sold for the right price, this is how it is as long as Marotta is in charge.

I call 6m net salary offer to Zirkzee total BS.
Arsenal might overpay actually. That's pretty much their selling point. Live in London, no pressure to win and get 50% more money than anywhere else.

I wouldn't be surprised if that 6m net is true.

Okay, we'd be talking about United, Arsenal, City level payers here.

Arsenal iirc pays Havertz and GabiJesus over 8m net.
Saka, Odegaard, Saliba and Martinelli get over 6m net.
Partey, Zinchenko and White get more than 5m net.

A trend you'll see is that, apart from Saka and Martinelli, the rest were either transfers from top sides or guys that were targeted from better sides, so they just paid them up.

If Zirkzee has bids from say Liverpool, Milan, Newcastle, PSG and Bayern, I fully expect Arsenal to give him a 6m net salary to attempt to swat him. The rest would be offering around 4m. So 50% higher salary.

They're also not doing bad now, so it's not another unambitious money call. It might be a good career move, too.

Yeah, but this is an Italian report so it's likely they've translated to net no?

I haven't read the report but most likely yes. In Italy and France they report net salaries while in England, Germany and Spain they report gross.

Edit: Article from Di Marzio talking about 6m net.

GdS continue their report of Inter being Interested in Zirkzee:
Carboni is a footballer Inter are willing to include in a player-plus-cash swap deal to lower Zirkzee price tag which will exceed €50m in the summer.
Carboni is currently on loan at Monza where he has scored two goals and provided four assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

According to Gazzetta, Fabbian is another player who can potentially be included in negotiations even if, in this case, it would not be a real swap deal.

Bologna, in fact, signed the 20-year-old from Inter on a permanent transfer last summer, but the Nerazzurri have an option to re-sign the promising midfielder for €12m in 2025.

In the meantime, Bologna can’t sell the player to any other club, so Inter could accept cancelling this clause and getting Zirkzee for a lower fee.
I doubt Bologna are in a hurry to sell Fabbian, so it won't matter too much.

Oh it was Di Marzio with the 6m net salary rumor. Well it's over if Zirkzee has any interest in EPL. :D Hard to see Inter, let alone Milan giving him such a contract after one good (to great) season.

Zirkzee going to be tough expensive and probably mad at us still for Arna. Send him back + prospects + wages of shit bench players we should get rid of + what we are going to spend on wages of 2-3 other crap 33+ year olds.

Make it happen

To have Zirkzee one of two starting strikers has to go, we need funds for that and Zirkzee is not here to be 3rd option.

Financial wise, probably yes.

Quality wise, Zirkzee isn’t in a position to be a sure starter at a team like Inter yet. If he wants to be a sure starter he should search a level below us, such as AC Milan.
