Lol I don't give a fuck about the position in top4 if he makes it. If he makes it to CL final, that negates all the losses in Serie A, EASILY, if he makes it to top4. Being in 3 competitions takes a toll. Always.

Target was Scudetto for sure before the season and at minimum secure easy top4. But after CL draw, it wasn't even expected we would go to CL knockouts. Now we are close to the final. So don't always look the negatives. No one should give a fuck about 11 losses at this point of the season. Scudetto is gone, it's CL and Coppa now.

but as you say, its still about top 4. If we dont make top 4, that negates all the CL progress this season.

So, funnily enough, even in your own argument, the CL progress is irrelevant, its whether we make top 4 or not.

And for me, within that context, it's pretty shitty that, so close to the end of the season, we're not even really "close" to guaranteed top 4 yet. Sass, Napoli, Atalanta, Torino. This team should have been clear and probably almost points-safe by now

For me, the only scenario where I can accept a non-top-4 finish is if we win the CL. Getting to the final and finishing 5th is unacceptable in my eyes.

Getting in the final, and finishing in Serie A 5th or lower means not playing CL next season, which means even less money, means even more selling of important players.

So basically, going to the final, and not winning it is bringing us NOTHING.

If our opponent in the semi-final was Real Madrid or City, I would gladly accept to not pass to the final and to have TOP4 place. But since we have the CL semi-final against our rival, it's sweet to knock them out.

Fair assessment of the team's performance as a whole.

Not sure if it's fair to put all this on Inzaghi tho.

If we miss the CL next season, it means selling players in the summer. So the decision would be do we start a completely new project with a new coach which might mean we miss the CL spot next season aswell. Because we need to be realistic, we ain't gonna get some top dog coach since we are gonna downsize our squad from what we have now. Which means it's some inexperienced guy (inexperienced in these top club circles). On top of that we need to pay Inzaghi his salary anyway so the costs of the having a coach will go up.

Management cannot look the situation like fans do, that they have to punish the coach for failing to get the target because they are angry for the end result (like the fans do). They can't just look who's fault this is and it's this one guy only and he needs to be kicked out because of it.

After all, Inzaghi might still be the best shot to get back to top4, DESPITE this season (if we end up outside top4). Not necessarily, of course, but it might be.

But, getting in top 4 will fetch about 30 mln from group stage in CL. Playing a final + semi + some share from TV rights, should be actually more than participating in the group stage alone. I know, that if we miss top 4, Zhang will use it as an excuse to sell some core players, but I don't think it's a true.

I found this in the net. Don't know how much is a true though

According to these calculations, just reaching the Final would see Inter earn €98.09m.

However, if Milan got to play in Istanbul, the club on the other side of San Siro would pocket €100.95m.

Inter would have to pay a €4m penalty for Financial Fair Play, compared to Milan’s €2m.

If Milan end their Champions League journey in the semi-finals, they’ll bring in circa €85m compared to Inter’s €82m.
Those numbers are much more than 30 mln group stage. We will also get around 8-10 from tickets for the return leg, as the stadium is already sold out.

Exactly.

There were multiple games during the season where Inzaghi really can't do anything when our players can't put the ball to the net.

You're looking too narrowly, tbh.

Sponsorship revenue? We have to negotiate a new sponsor this year, if we're not in the CL that amount is going to go down 35% already.
Match day revenue? Also down

Players wanting to come to play at Inter? Significant decrease as well. Probably Bastoni and Barella out

I wonder how many of our contracts have clauses for wage reduction in case of not being in CL?

Being out of the CL next season could be the thing that causes us enough financial difficulty that even the benefit of this season offseting one year, spirals us into another banter era. If we have to sell a couple of key players, replace them with (not literally, but eg) Smalling and say Paredes, we're not going to make the top 4 the next year either. And then the one off financial benefits from this run wont be there to help - we'll death spiral until we re-set our cost basis to a mid table club and try to build back from there tbh

We are speaking for only one season actually. Match revenue from 1/18 till the final is higher than the group stage anyway. Why we shall sell key players (apart from Onana, Brozovic and Dumfries), when we will get nearly 100 mln with reaching the CL final?! Not participating in next season CL is minus 30 mln, and i don't count tickets revenue as it's covered by this year run as I already said. You are right about the players wanting to come though. It will more difficult to attract players like Firmino for instance.

Well, for a few reasons? Our 'baseline' at Inter, assuming CL every season, is basically like 60-80mil plus valenza a season. So this year's plusvalenza requirements (to be achieved circa June, eg sales of Dumfries) is probably covered, but next year's isnt covered, and in fact not being in the CL will cost us to need to increase that plusvalenza significantly, probably to more like 140mil.

That's nothing of the fact that we need to renew Bastoni, Barella is being chased, etc - if we lose those guys and bank half or most of the money, we arent going to get good replacements, so not only will the overall quality of our team reduce because of financial pressures, but itll further reduce because we wont be able to keep players. I think not making the CL next season will be the start of a few years (until a new owner) of no CL

If "baseline" assuming CL means 60-80m plusvalenza per season, than we need to blow the whole thing up and start again. Basically a new project!
60-80m per year is just not sustainable, simple as that.

Assuming nothing goes horribly wrong in the league and with Bbilan, he should keep his job.

I think he's been a shit coach in countless occasions, but whether through skill or luck, he's achieved the results he needed to.

Apart from 90min for Mambo N.5, he did it great with subs. Didn't waste time to react, and take out useless Correa. He gave rest to Dimarco, Mkhitaryan. Put Darmian in to strengthen the defense at the end, and gave proper minutes to Bellanova and Asllani.

seems fair enough without Skriniar, perisic, Sanchez, Vidal (instead Asllani), Lukaku and Brozovic freeze mode in first quarter of 2023.

4 more wins would make me satisfied, 5 more wins would make me happy, 6 more wins would make me ecstatic.

4 more wins meaning
1 win in Serie A
1 win in Coppa
2 wins in CL
haha, i mean tbh i'd be pretty happy with that as well, but practically, 4 more wins in my mind means like, 2 in the league, 1 in the CL, 1 in the coppa italia. We'd still definitely come top 4, win a cup, and make the CL final
