Inzaghi also deserves credit for his attacking style of play and unlike managers who say they set their team up to win, Inzaghi means it and is all or nothing in terms of results.

I believe that Inter’s fortune in the CL is also down to Inzaghi’s attacking football. We shouldn’t forget that Inter qualified from the R16 by out scoring Barca, not be defending at the Camp Nou.

A lot of people would disagree with this based on the fact that we weren't scoring for a while, and gave this season a serious scare, but I wonder how things would've went if we had a consistent striker up front.

I think my concern, really, is more about next season. I dont personally massively buy the fatigue element yet, and I think Inzaghi is just not a great manager. 11 defeats could easily happen again next season without a deep run into the CL, at which point we're going to be left up shit's creek without a paddle.

Obviously I hope I'm wrong, and to the point I've made a few times, it mneeds to be a part of an end of season discussion to understand the failings this year. Specifically:
  1. How do we try to manage our strikers better so we dont have a long dead spell from all of them at the same time
  2. How do we fix our defense so we aren't as leaky as we have been until recent weeks
  3. How do we avoid 11 defeats in the league again next year
  4. What investment does Inzaghi need to make this team competitive for the league title
  5. Why have, effectively only 1-3? of our players actually developed under Inzaghi, and the rest regressed if not stayed the same

If the board can get satisfactory answers and thoughts to those questions, then its fine. But thats my point about the "luck" of the CL - next season we might not get lucky, and a season where 80% of the time our maximum points total in the league puts us outside of the CL places without a good run into the CL would be a disaster for this club.

Anyway, I Think i've laboured my point long enough

Points 1 & 2 have already been fixed in recent weeks and point 3 is directly related to points 1 & 2 so we might not get 11 defeats next season.

Points 1 and 2 are fixed at the moment, but we need to be confident its a long term solution, rather than form, if that makes sense. We cant go through another 2 month patch of no goals from strikers next season, so we need to feel absolutely confident that whatever we think is working will work for the long term rather than just luckily having lautaro, dzeko, and lukaku hit form at the right time of the season

To draw a parallel, its like when Adriano scored like 5 goals in quick succession under Mourinho - the question to ask ourselves at that point is, do we really think peak Adriano is back, or is this just a lucky run of form?

And then plan around that accordingly

Benfica topped the group with crisi Juve and Psg.

Porto topped the group with crisi Atletico and Bayer.

Napoli topped the group with crisi Liver and Ajax

Milan was humiliated by crisi Chelsea with Potter twice and qualified to playoffs thanks to being in a very easy group

We couldn't do a shit against stable Bayern and finished second thanks to that home win against Barca with the referee's controversial decision not to give penalty on Dumfries handball. Had that match ended 1:1, the result at Cam Nou might have been different.

People outside of serie A rightly feel unconvinced with our semifinal tie. Only winning the final can prove our real worth.

If everyone else was in crisis, then it's only fair that the teams who best dealt with crisis make it to the semi finals.

And also to be fair, only Bayern might have the right to complain about the draw. Liverpool, PSG, Chelsea, Barca... don't having any argument going for them.

It's not like a there's vacant coach waiting to be hired to upgrade him. The only one I can think of is conte. After what happened last time around, I don't think either party willing to be reunited again.
Current best case scenario is sticking with him until someone like simeone or allegri is available. Gambling by hiring unproven coach like juric or Motta is pointless

Curious to see who these 1-3 players are.

Yeah, I dont think its an unreasonable opinion tbh. I'd still personally focus on a post-season retropsective and understand what investment inzaghi is asking for, and look at how we execute.

Dude, people still commemorate Liverpool's 2005 win and they forget that they reached the final despite getting a goal they didn't score in the semi final and their 3-3 comeback came from the dive of the century by Gerrard. If it were the other way around everyone would be saying how Italian players dive all the time...
They also probably had the worse CL winning/finalist team of all time, and people are trying to claim that we'll be that. Let's also not ignore that they barely escaped the group at the final minutes against the worst team in the history of the competition, on same level points!

Yet we have a roster that's made up of World Cup, Euro, Copa America winners and runner ups. We won our domestic league recently unlike them who barely managed to reach the top 4 in their previous 10 seasons and even failed several times. Their only world class player was Xabi Alonso but he actually wasn't playing that much because of injuries and he was still rather raw.

Stop paying attention to what others say. They're mostly stupid.

We were denied a clear and obvious penalty against bayern as well at their stadium.

You're also forgetting milan were missing like 7 players when they played Chelsea and got a bullshit red card.

Also forgetting again that Asllani missed almost an open net at camp nou and dembele should have seen red.

Stop trying to shit on our achievements. Plenty had went against us as well and we got past Porto and benfica in our worst period of form in the last 8 years.

That happened after our decisive h2h vs Barca

What 7 players? if anything, they were in a good run in serie A sitting in 3rd place with only 3 points less than Napoli. They didn't get a red card in their 3-0 defeat, plus your argument would be valid if they lost let's say 1-2. Mind you, they had Leao in both games.

Again, that happened after the first match which could have ended 1-1 had the ref pointed to the penalty spot.

Kudos to players for keeping their motivations in CL high.

What does it matter if it was after our head to head. If you want to imagine we drew both games with barca, imagine not getting that penalty. Just because we were good at that stage doesn't mean it didn't fuck us.

Milan were missing Maignan, Theo, kjaer, calabria, florenzi, salad maker, messias and probably more squad players. Missing 4 of their starting back 5 against Chelsea. And they got a bullshit red card at 0-0.

If you think because we drew with barca 1-1 at home they would play any differently at camp nou you're deluded. You think because we drew with barca, theyd get us to camp nou and play for a draw?? They'd be playing the exact same way. And that game, we should have won as well. Again, dembele should have seen red and we missed a sitter right at the end.

Don't know what your agenda is here but it's mostly bullshit no harm to you. Making an argument for the sake of it. A lot of people try to shit on us, nice to see inter "fans" are doing the same

you obviously didn't read the whole conversation between ".h." and others who he was arguing with in the last couple of pages. My post was to add some objectivity to their debate, and truth be told, to argue Inzaghi's merits. He is yet to demonstrate that "CL manager" label against a proper top team. So far he only had Bayren in the group stage to prove that, but our team was clueless and shaky in the first match and played with a little more bravery in the reverse leg only because we gained some advantage over Barca.

I didn't. I clicked into this thread expecting some praise and positivity and baffled to see him getting shit on, today of all days.

If we make the final, win the coppa and finish top 4, its a no brainer for me. He must stay, and ive been one of his biggest critics! Go a few pages back and you'll see me saying sack him right now.

You did a terrible job at it. There is zero objectivity in your posts.
