On the game, I think a lot of fans underestimate Real Sociedad. They may not be a big name but they finished 4th in La Liga. Also Spanish teams tend to have a great mentality in Europe and are not afraid of facing other big teams. I believe they also got 4 points from Real Madrid last season without conceding a goal.

They are a good team and were very motivated playing at home in the CL. Obviously it doesn't excuse our performance but they definitely are a good team.

A team like Sociedad is our kryptonite. Quick, agile players that run straight at us give us all sorts of issues. Always has. They showed no fear and their supporters were driving them on all game. Only in the last 10 minutes did we finally settle down and take control. We were lucky they didn’t capitalize on all their previous chances however.

What is with the obsession over Onana? We fleeced United with that transfer. More of that please. It's a GK ffs who cares? Move on.
What obsession? If anyone is obsessed that will be the people who are mentioning him suddenly in this thread for no reason at all.

We didn't fleeced anyone for a while.

We didn’t, what will you call Lukaku transfer then?

10th most expensive transfer in history, highest by any Italian team.

And Hakimi that we got 60m plus majority of the 11m adds on.

We made 3 over 60m trades, the record by any club is 6 and it’s Dortmund and Chelsea. Only 7 clubs made more then 3 deals over the value of 60m €.

Anoeta is a notoriously difficult ground to play at, doesn’t surprise me at all anymore than it does that most people are unfamiliar with La Real

Trash performance.

Something to note is that most of the players who were rotated into the team were brought in late in the transfer window and didn't have much of a preseason here. Add in Sociedad's high and effective pressing and that Asllani isn't exactly a leader in the middle of pitch at the moment and things can become disjointed and awkward quickly.

A bit off topic, but we are.

Best team in Italy, nobody better than us in Portugal, only Real and Barca in Spain, only Bayern in Germany, only City in England...

France and psg are a joke.

So, as I said we are arguably a top 5 team in Europe.
Erm..we should win Scudetto first, if not consecutive, to claim "best team in Serie A" tbh.

Without significant titles it's just the team's own fans subjective.

Scudetto is ours to lose. I mean it's pretty much consensus at this point from odds makers and pundits. Much more than just teams fans opinions.

It's too early to say. With injuries, everything can change. I thought it's Napoli, Inter and Juve for the Scudetto, but Milan can be 4th in CL and then steamroll Serie A. You can never know.

Why do you think we are stronger than rube? Lets beat them and then talk about being the strongest. Its too early for statement like that.

I don't think so. Many Spanish teams would give us a difficult time. As for the EPL, Arsenal and Liverpool would destroy us to pieces if we played like we did against Real Sociedad. We tend to struggle against teams with quick passing and relentless pressing.

We had a good Serie A start but that does not make a superior team nor a clear favourite, people are putting way to much into the Milan meltdown.

It’s like way way too early to even remotely speaking about whose the strongest candidate, to many unknown you can’t really build it on 4 games as that can just be a fluke. This game more then anything underline why we should not that quick with such idea.

Juve had an almost equal strong start with two 3-0 wins and a rock solid defence, Chiesa and Vlahovic been out to a very strong start. And I’m them into any sort of candidate just yet.

yeah and a draw that would be a lose because there was a clear penalty for bologna.. almost equal start? not really. That draw against bologna already shows that they are not impossible to beat. The advance of having no cups is for sure important. But we also have a good bench. I don't know if Inzaghi is thinking to play our bench in CL to focus on Serie A but if yes, why not? As long we make it for the next stage, even as second. But what matters is the league, we should not fuck up again like it happend against Liverpool last year where we never rested players.

Last time we had one bad game against Liverpool and one good game against them. I believe they would be a 50-50 affair.
Arsenal is a lot harder match up for us, more 70-30 for Arsenal.

Maybe we'll play Arsenal and then see. Or if we relegate to EL where Liverpool is now.
We don't need to play them to see. We had enough big matches for the past seasons to know that "Inter getting destroyed to pieces" is nothing but a myth. People need to stop using that term to prove a point.

Not destroyed to pieces by all big sides, but that second Liverpool game was the first game in a while where I truly believed this Inter team has potential to be a monster if only the right transfers were made to fill up the squad.

Before that we had so many close games that we lost or just weren't good enough to even get to Last 16 of CL.

And boom, a nice CL campaign the very next season, with 7 clean sheets and very convincing performances against Benfica, Barcelona and AC Milan. These are not small clubs.

Now it's time for this squad to compete for all titles the next 4 seasons. I believe.

Feels like Arsenal can only play well against a specific type of football, that's quite....liberal at the back. And we don't play that way, I don't see how they'd be favorites against us. We'd win 9 out of 10 knockout ties with them.
Liverpool on the other hand, they're a bit of a mystery this season due to many changes but I feel like they're a team that pushes our buttons much more and I'd be uneasy playing them over two legs. Much more than City.

City and Liverpool are the only two PL sides I'd say we're not favorites against in a KO phase.
Then there's Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern. Even with PSG I'd say it's 50-50. From Italy, I don't see a rival in a KO game unless we simply play vs Juventus and choke, but that can only happen in Coppa Italia and Simone's got everyone's number in that tournament.

But as always, timing is everything. We may face a team at their best whilst we're not in form and that changes things. And vice-versa.
