Ausilio also roasted Milan. He said there were many teams after Frattesi even if they claim now they were never interested.

Looks like we're not signing Kamada until Milan revive their interest then

who could it be? hmmm

"Now I confess one thing. I don't have an official Instagram account, I created one to check my wives because someone has created problems for me. You can understand many things from wives and girlfriends, even about the footballer's personality. Then I also follow players, even from other teams. But I created it for the wife of a footballer who was giving me a lot of problems"

thats funny

Napoli got all the credit for securing Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Inter director Piero Ausilio insists ‘everyone knew of him, but we didn’t sign him because he didn’t fit our tactics.’

Kvaratskhelia was the revelation of the season in Serie A, helping Napoli win their first Scudetto in 33 years and named Player of the Season for his 12 goals and 13 assists in 34 games.

The Georgia international was snapped up for only €11.5m from Dinamo Batumi and many fans wondered why Napoli were able to get there before anyone else.

“Kvaratskhelia didn’t come from the moon, nor did he appear suddenly out of nowhere. His file had been on many people’s desks for many years,” Inter director of sport Ausilio told reporters at an event.

“We had some meetings, I myself met with his agent, I know also that Juventus and Roma were working on him. However, if you play 3-5-2 the way we did with both Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi, it’s more of a struggle.

“Napoli did well and their tactical system helped them, but he was a player that many people knew about. He was considered worthy of investment, but he didn’t fit our tactics

Lord Ausilio also said the following:

There are some new priorities now, such as securing Lukaku on a permanent transfer from Chelsea after his initial loan and finding out what will happen to Onana
“I don’t like to talk about timing, but about ideas. Lukaku is an idea of ours, but he is a Chelsea-owned player. The dialogue never stopped with them, we know he cannot be handed to us for a second season on loan, so we are evaluating if it is possible to buy him outright.
“He knows full well that we want to bring him back here, we’ll see if we can find the solution with Chelsea.”

As for Onana, Manchester United made their first formal offer of circa €45m including bonuses and it was rejected outright
“At this moment, Onana is Inter’s goalkeeper. He is one of the strengths of this squad and we would like to keep going with strong players.
“If opportunities arise, we will evaluate them, but as of today they either have not arrived or do not reflect our expectations. That is all for Onana, the pre-season training retreat starts on July 13 and he will turn up for that. If over the next 15-20 days there are movements, then we will evaluate them.”

The club saluted players who have left as free agents, like Roberto Gagliardini, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Milan Skriniar, but there has been no message saying goodbye to Handanovic. This is because he is discussing the possibility of a new contract, even though he is a free agent, and that is tied to the future of Onana.
“The contract has expired, but we are making valuations based also on what we will do in the next few days,” Ausilio told reporters.

Anatoliy Trubin of Shakhtar Donetsk has been mentioned as a possible heir to Onana should the goalkeeper be sold this summer
“He is a talent like many other players, Inter have the duty to observe and monitor those players, and Trubin is one of them.”

I sometimes wonder why is the club`s strategy so wide out in the public, in front of everyone? How does the club benefit fom this?

Ausilio has recently been awarded with the Spiga d’Oro award for 2023, a prize celebrating individuals or companies who have excelled in their contributions to society.

Inter director Ausilio explains why he prefers Thuram over Lukaku

Shortly after receiving his award, Ausilio spoke to Il Pertini Radio, reported via La Gazzetta dello Sport, to discuss a number of Inter-related topics, including the club’s current striking options.

When asked whether he would have preferred to have kept Romelu Lukaku, who eventually joined Roma on loan from Chelsea in the summer, on board for another season, his answer was a firm no.

“Do you know who I would choose between Thuram and Lukaku?,” he asked. “My answer is much simpler than the one given by (Beppe) Marotta.

“I would say absolutely Thuram, because he is a lad who wanted to join Inter, he chose us just as much as we chose him.”

He continued: “Two years ago, we had reached an agreement with his club (Borussia Moenchengladbach), but then he got injured a couple of days after signing off on the deal. We didn’t forget about him though and clearly he didn’t forget about us either.

“And, when other clubs became interested, even if they deny ever having an interest, he chose Inter and Inter chose him.”

I couldn't find a thread for Ausilio, so I thought I'd create one.

His interview last night was very interesting. Seeing him talk about players he's tracking was interesting.

Chicheres, Ogbonna, and Lichnovsky for CB.

Jung possibility

Funes, Quintero, Markovic, and a couple others on the radar too.

Very interesting. I have a lot of respect for him as our sporting/youth director.

11 years later. He didn't get any of his targets, and none of the targets made it either.

Task failed sucessfully? :yao:

Goddamn there's a full 48 minute video interview with Ausilio on the Serie A youtube channel:

I've already read translated snippets on instagram but would be great if they did subtitles for this one.

Ausilio: ‘Lukaku part of the past at Inter, no regrets’
Speaking in an interview with Radio Serie A via Di Marzio, Ausilio first opened up about Lukaku, what happened in the summer and where things stand now.

“I prefer not to talk about a player who is at another club, I’ve never done so in recent months. I’m just saying that I like to think about the present and the future, and Lukaku is part of the past. With him we won a Scudetto, he brought us a significant capital gain, and we lost two finals.
“I’m just saying that there must be education and respect, things were moving forward, it’s evident, but at a certain point they stopped. There are operations that don’t go through, but if there is respect, it’s never a problem.
“However, when you hide or send answers through other people you think about moving on. For me it’s a closed chapter since July 8, there’s no regrets.”

He was asked about the now infamous phone call between him and the Belgian striker in the summer.
“It was a firm call, but nothing special. I told Romelu what I thought, after I couldn’t hear him for some time.”

The Inter sporting director then touched on various transfer market anecdotes, starting with Lautaro Martinez.
“Lautaro’s story is a particular one, he was in fact close to Atlético Madrid, there were four days of crazy negotiations.”

He spoke about the most complicated deal.
“There’s many… it wasn’t easy to snatch Pavard from Bayern Munich, but because his club wasn’t willing to send him away.”

The sporting director revealed a transfer market regret.
“Fabregas, when he was 16, we did everything we could to get him but there wasn’t a chance because he went to Arsenal from Barcelona.”

Finally, Ausilio explained why Inter chose to replace Onana with Sommer in the summer.
“We needed certainties, Handanovic had also left. I take this opportunity to say that Samir will stay to work with us, there is a project that will involve him.
“We could have focused on younger goalkeepers, but Sommer was what we really needed, and he is proving it.
“When he arrived, he had already learned the important words in Italian for a goalkeeper, a crazy professional.”
Glad that the Lautaro transfer didn`t go through.
