I couldn't find a thread for Ausilio, so I thought I'd create one.

His interview last night was very interesting. Seeing him talk about players he's tracking was interesting.

Chicheres, Ogbonna, and Lichnovsky for CB.

Jung possibility

Funes, Quintero, Markovic, and a couple others on the radar too.

Very interesting. I have a lot of respect for him as our sporting/youth director.

What's the differences between sporting director and chief of youth development like samaden?

This is a bit of a stab/guess from what I know, so please take it with a pinch of salt, it may be wrong...

Roberto Samaden, as the chief of youth development, is the equivalent almost of, say, Moratti, or Oriali for the youth sector. That is to say, he does a lot of the management for the youth team (and indeed, if I recall correctly, was the one who met Stramaccioni in the first place and wanted him at Inter). He probably appoints - or at least co-appoints - all the youth coaches, different managers for the different tiers, sets up the plan and so on and offers general support.

Ausilio is basically Branca for the youth team. He works very closely with Casiraghi in the scouting sector, identifying players we need, and good young players. He works to sign the U-19, U-18, and below players that are of interest for us (e.g. Livaja, Alborno, Smug, Tassi, etc).

Hope that clears it up?

Oh, re-read your question

A sporting director - depending on which country you're in - is responsible for more the day to day management of the club. He sits somewhere between what you would consider, in Italy, the 'coach' of a team, and the more English style manager. He basically assumes the responsibilities that a 'manager' would accept, if the club only has a coach. It's common particularly in clubs where the owners don't know so much about football - in England - so the chairman is allievated a bit of responsibility and need to understand. In italy, its to co-ordinate with the coach to fulfill the 'manager' role.

If your american think of a sporting director as the soccer version of a GM.

giving this thread a bump

so...

Ausilio gave a little interview after the Campagnaro and Andreolli presentation.

He said that we are definetly getting a RWB and it is a priority. He admited that Inter and Rube are valuing Isla differently and they are looking into Van der Wiel for a loan.He also said that they didn't recieve any offer for Rano or Guarin and if they want to get 9ggolan they need to sell someone.About Dragovic he said that they are looking into it but they are full in the CB department atm.
Also Zuniga and Lavezzi are not targets atm
