We're already reluctant about Miranda's age and the fear of him declining. Getting another defender who's already 2-3 years older than him is not smart business. It's just another Palacio added to our list of frustration for the next 2 seasons.

He had a shit year at Real, mostly on the bench. He is 34, way past it. This is a Vidic style deal, a complete waste of money.

I usually prefer to sign experienced players, but this guy is a grand-dad asking for 10m wages. Might as well renew Palacio's contract while we are at it.

Pepe is a classy defender, the best we can get in the market. Yes, he's old and injury prone these days but he's still one of the best defenders around, better than Manolas, Rudiger, De Vrij, etc. I'm sure he'll be a success as long as he stays fit, which is the hard part

Of course we are offering higher wages than Real Madrid. Real is the best club in the world and top players often choose to earn less for the sake of that prestige and trophies. We're probably going to miss out on Europe altogether and the team is in shambles, while PSG also want Pepe, making it a favourable situation for him

Pepe is not just better than Murillo, he's one of the best in the world. Although he had a season hampered by injuries, he still played very well when fit. Real have a very strict policy regarding old players which is why they're reluctant to hand him a 2 year contract. He's unwanted because of his age, not because he's not good enough.
