The suspension is strange but it does not really come as a surprise. The decision to award last season's Scudetto to Inter was controversial and many people are still unhappy about it. The authorities are under pressure and there are alklegations that Inter was favoured or looked after by Rossi during the scandal. The authorities do want want to be seen as favouring any one team over the other so Inter is now bearing the brunt of having the Scudetto given to us by default. Hence the harsh suspension. I have a feeling most of the season is going to be like this for us.

I think the awarding of the Scudetto has only exasperated the problem. Inter have always gotten the rotten end of the stick when it comes to video replay and I was not surprised in the least that Viera not only got the ban but that it didnt get reduced. Anyone care to remember the Samuel incident from the Super Cup game last year??

Hamed, as I said in the Zlatan thread, it is the coach's place to lay down the law with regards to poor discipline. Mancini should make a point of benching players that collect cards and get suspended and let them know that they will be punished. The club should also take a hard stance and enforce heavy fines.

I think I remember Moratti talking about going through the proper channels and investigating whether in fact Viera was deserving of a fine. In light of the ban not being reduced I would say that he was fined but that the amount and nature was kept within the confines in the club. The media already have a field day with Inter everytime anything remotely unsettling happens no need to give them anymore fuel for an already raging fire.

As for Viera he is no longer a young hotshot and should know to keep his mouth shut. Afterall he had already screwed the team with his antice in the midweek CL game why go out there and do the same sort of stuff in a crunch game like against Roma. Yes these are types of fouls he was used to committing and getting away with while at Juve but that stuff doesnt work for you here at Inter and he needs to learn that fast.

As for his big mouth I can see it causing us problems in the future, lets see if he can keep himself in line from now on.

I won't be surprised if he got himself sent off in the next game :D

I think referees exaggerate Vieira's fouls and maybe they do so because of his bad history.

Let's hope that when he comes back he'll add some steel to our weakened midfield.

The same situation with Materazzi.

Referees have something against Inter.

I actually thought that myself, but why hasn't Materazzi then been sent off more? Materazzi hasn't got many red cards since at Inter if I'm not mistaken, but, as shown in videos, he could easily have gotten loads.

On Vieira, I agree. He has always gotten many yellows and reds, partly due to his style and the type of player he is, partly due to refs' attitude towards Vieira.

I think it's because Materazzi is smart to know his role and not argue everytime like Vieira. Vieira should know that JZ and Cordoba have that right first and he shouldn't try to impose himself.

Besides a CM tends to tackle more frequently than a CD.

Vieira has injured himself in training match.

Thuram collision
The FC Internazionale Milano midfielder collided with team-mate Lilian Thuram in a practice match at Clairefontaine and will have a scan today to determine the extent of his ankle injury.

Hope it won't be anything serious.

This is so Recoba. Injuried when we need him, healthy when we don't.

Cambiasso was injuried, we had Vieira. Now Cambiasso is back, Vieira is gone.

Why those things only happen to us? Why?

Well to be honest I think our best midfield at the moment is Cuchu Dacourt, all due respect to Big Pat. As for "we are cursed", have you been living under a rock for the last 20 years? :p

Agreed.

Just let Dacourt get his fitness back and we're off going. Cambiasso-Dacourt sounds awesome.

Cambiasso-Dacourt sounds too defensive. But, when there is not other choise, it's fine by me.

No, no. Remember, we'll have two offensive players alongside then. Besides, Cuchu's not -that- defensive.

yah it does from what we have seen of cambiasso in the past. However with Dacourt back there to lock up the defensive work will unshakle Esteban so that he can get forward more and into the right positions that a real AM would be in to score some goals.

From what I have seen of Dacourt and Viera so far I might actually prefer Cambiasso next to Olie.

We shouldnt have accepted the damn scudetto in the first place. We should have told them **** it, its dirty. Im almost sure now that this season is going to be another ride.

Dacourt has been very good with us and therefore even if Vieira is fine, Dacourt should play. Cambiasso can ease his way back into the game.

The ankle injury was nothing serious as Vieira played in Scotland-France match.

Yah I like his ball distribution and his ability to cut out passes. He isnt as strong as say Dacourt in making tackles but he is good at using his size to overpower the oppostion.

If he could learn to stop making so many fouls in the midfield and do less trash talking he would be a real gem.
