Benzema is still a superior overall footballer than Icardi on individual level and the former fits like a glove at Madrid's system.

You could say that Icardi is a better goal scorer, which doesn't say much since Benzema isn't the one who gets final ball at RM.

Not sure what I'm more impressed by, his run against the 3 players or his turn and left-foot shot.

It says a lot when I'm more impressed by those things than the fact he scored 2 goals, which shows how much he's improving. I really think this is his season and he'll shine under Spaletti.

One thing I hope he improves on is scoring against the bottom of the barrel teams. So far, his worst games were against Benevento and Verona, who are both terrible defensively (although him taking 2 markers against Verona led to our goal for Borja). Hopefully he hits 30+ this season.

Are you sure the offside wasn't around? I heard this a lot growing up but with some research I've seen that it's always been present. The latest change made the attacking player on the same level as the defending player onside, but it's always been offside for 150 years or so if you had less than 2 players in front of you.

What definitely changed but I can't really estimate its effect on goals scored is that GKs were allowed to pick up the ball any time. Removing it definitely increased mistakes by GKs so it should inflate scoring slightly.

hopefully we'll have a response next season in champions league. obviously both things, but in which percentage? i'd say 85% his merits vs 15% because of dropping quality.

Icardi has been fantastic for Inter and it wouldn't hurt to finally give him the credit he deserves.

MUCH stricter, you needed 3 men ahead of you instead of two.
