Are you sure the offside wasn't around? I heard this a lot growing up but with some research I've seen that it's always been present. The latest change made the attacking player on the same level as the defending player onside, but it's always been offside for 150 years or so if you had less than 2 players in front of you.

What definitely changed but I can't really estimate its effect on goals scored is that GKs were allowed to pick up the ball any time. Removing it definitely increased mistakes by GKs so it should inflate scoring slightly.

Damn, you wasn't alive by then to watch footboll?

His release clause is $100 million?Peanuts now and clearly we do not look clever now.Real Madrid could be willing to dish out that 100 mil in January according to some papers. So when is he being offered a new contract?Wanda will drive a very hard bargain now.His relationship may be great with the club but with the ultras its quite poor and we could be in for a very destabilizing January.

What happens if he goes in January? No way can we find a proper replacement for him in January.

That release clause is only for clubs from out of Italy and not for clubs inside Italy right?

I am hoping Benzema scores a hattrick against Barca and Real do not destabilize us come January.

Why would he leave in January? World Cup is coming. He is guaranteed a starting spot at Inter. Moving to another club will risk him sitting on a bench.

Yeah well there is aways that chance he won't make the squad and there will be some drama with the Argentina spot.Real will offer him instant UCL in February and a far better wage and Wanda will be very happy. And if Benzema keeps sucking Icardi will be promised the starting spot and Benz could even be sold.

100 mil is absolutely nothing right now.

We need to give this guy a new contract asap. The moment that offer comes we are screwed.Lets hope it does not come.

So, u think because there is a chance he won't make the WC squad, he should decrease his chances even lower by going to RM. New environment, new team mates, new football styles. Let alone the fact Icardi will be non existent in La Liga. He is growing well here, on the run for top scorer.

It is kind of useless to give him an improved offer for now. We have seen Neymar moved for 222M. How much would you put on Icardi's price tag? 250M? It still means nothing for big clubs. On the other hand, if we demand his release clause at 250M, we also have to increase his salary. How much per season should we offer him? 10M? Can we afford it? How about Perisic and others?

Even if we offer him a much improved contract, if he is not convinced with our project, he will not sign. He will wait until last minute to see any other options.

How we can convince him to stay is much more important than a new contract. He is a diva. He likes to be centre of attention. We can offer him that. Real Madrid has too many superstars, he will live in a shadow. If we improve our team and supporting him to achieve greatness, he will stay.

Why do we must have a release clause to begin with? Is it something you must have like in La Liga? If not I don't see the problem and if he wants one then put one at 500M.

M.Adnan, I love you and we go way back. But this constant snipes at Icardi is becoming tiring man.

Icardi has been fantastic for Inter and it wouldn't hurt to finally give him the credit he deserves.

wtf I was praising Icardi in that post. :yao:

I've (rightfully) criticized him in the past, but this season I think that he's improved in almost every aspect that I've criticized him for. He's more often beating his markers specially on headers, showed up more in difficult times, and his easy tap-in goals have decreased in favor of scoring from half chances which is a direct reason why we're still winning despite struggling with creating real chances (midfield weakness).

Sure he's not perfect and there are aspects that he still needs to improve, but this season, him and Candreva (another player I've rightfully and heavily criticized) have improved so drastically that now they're a direct reason why we're in 2nd place.

Really only a retard would hate on a striker who scores 15 goals in 14 game. I'm only hoping that this is genuine improvement because we need it in Europe next season.

i think he genuinely loves Inter at this point, at least enough to not take advantage of the clause. there will be this contraxt extension, raise, no release clause anymore, then hopefully we can forget about his contract and only talk about football at least for 30 months.

It seems that there is finally a treaty of peace between Mauro and the Curva Nord, or at least so I heard. After the 1st goal he came under our away fans to thank them. Hope this is finally a closed chapter

Icardi clearly said he won't answer a call from Real Madrid so we all should stop worrying.

If i remember correctly that release clause was said to only be valid for a short period during the summer transfer window so i m not sure e even have to be worried.

Also he seems to be very attached to Inter and Milano so as long as we offer him competitive wages and he gets to play i dont think he intends to leave.

My bad then, I misunderstood because it seemed to me that you implied Icardi's goalscoring record was more on poor defending than his own achievement. :)

Speaking of the release clause, yea I don't think Icardi is gonna risk the World Cup spot. And besides, these mega deals very rarely happen over the winter window.

I'm just flabbergasted that he's still here with us. I've said time and time that (prior to this season), Inter doesn't deserve a striker of Icardi's prodigy. Hopefully he stays and we can all build something around him.

I’m all for hyping and loving Icardi right now, he deserves it. I’ve been a critic in the past of his lack of all round game, but he’s improved a lot in that aspect with Spalletti. There is no young striker I rather have right now.

However, I really disagree with saying “Inter doesn’t deserve a striker of Icardi’s prodigy.” I mean come on, this is the club that signed Ronaldo in his prime, but we don’t deserve Icardi? I understand that we’ve been shit for a few years but don’t you think a 20 year old striker with 10 goals to his name benefited from coming into a team where the competition was an aging veteran coming off an ACL tear?

We stuck by Icardi like he stuck by us. Giving him opportunity to start for a big club at 20. Giving him the captains armband at 23. We developed him into the player he is today, how can we not deserve him?

Handoyo a closet AC Milan fan, that's what is going on. They usually talk how they deserve more praise than other Serie A club.

Hehe, maybe I sounded too harsh. My point is, we've been shit over the past few years, while I have always rated Icardi as one of the most promising strikers in the world. I'm not bashing our own club or what, it's just the reality. I'm thankful that Icardi sticks with us and has remained as faithful as Interisti so far.

Dude I ain't a Milan fan, I fucking own them
