I really hate it if Icardi stays and Wanda manages to get a bump to his contract.

Yes, sets a terrible precedent. If we give into Wanda's demands, we can expect much more of this nonsense in the future...

Depends if we actually negotiate with her and Icardi or just straight up say yes to their demands.

finish this crap already. there wont be very significant impact if we sell icardi. selling a poacher for about 60 million is an achievement. i would even accept 55 or 50 million.

lets shift our focus on player like Milik, Calleri, and Gabriel Jesus or other players. a club with our stature should never bother to compromise with lowly manager like Wanda.

and i still wish to have Valero or Casemiro in our squad.

From our official site:

MAURO ICARDI: "I’M AN INTERISTA"

"Banega is a player with immense class. Ansaldi is a fantastic full-back and a great professional," the Argentine striker told the media on Wednesday

PORTLAND – Mauro Icardi has moved to reassure fans by declaring himself to be "an Interista" in Portland on Wednesday.

"I’m going to be here until 2019," began Icardi. "I have a contract and we love it in Milan. The whole family wants to stay. It doesn’t distract me, I’ve been at Inter for three years and it’s been the same thing every season. I’m an Interista."

Icardi then looked back on the 2015/16 season.

"We started well but then dropped off. I could have scored a few more, but it wasn’t all that bad. The captain’s armband is never a burden – it’s an honour.

"Our objective for this year is to perform well and cause Juventus a few problems. You never know in football. Banega is a player with immense class. He’ll help us no end. I’ve always thought Ansaldi was a fantastic full-back. And now that I know him I can tell you that he’s a great professional."

Icardi's interview in CdS

Icardi: 'I only want Inter'
By Football Italia staff

Mauro Icardi has a 'strong bond' with Inter and is 'working to stay', but he will 'behave like a professional'.

The agent is being linked with a move to a variety of other teams, including Napoli, Atletico Madrid and most recently Arsenal.

The polemical statements released by the player's agent and wife Wanda Nara have kicked off a tense situation, with the Argentine somewhat at odds with the club and the fans.

“I'm here, and I'm happy here, I say that all the time,” Icardi told Il Corriere dello Sport. “I have a contract with Inter until 2019 and they're my team. For everything else, it's the club that has to speak. I'm working to improve my game, to play well and to provide options for the Coach.

“My entire family's objective is to stay in Milan. I never concealed the fact that I'm happy in this city, as are Wanda and the children. Milan is our home, and that's why she's in talks with the club. We're trying to find a solution.

“For now, Wanda deserves an A+ as an agent. She's working very well.”

The 23-year-old poacher was then asked whether the tense situation and the continuous rumours on the market were causing him problems.

“Frankly, no. I'm a professional and I'm acting like one. I do what I must and I think I've worked well on the pitch so far. In the training camp, things are working out well.

“Last season finished badly with the thigh injury, but this one started out on the right foot. Physically I'm well, I just need to improve my condition, which is normal.

“I'm not interested in rumours and I don't give much weight to what is said or written in the media. What I want is known by everyone. I'm happy here, and this is where I want to stay.

“When I chose Inter I wanted to affirm myself in these colours and that objective hasn't changed. We reached the Europa League in the first season, missed it in the second, made it in the third. Now we're ready to come back to Europe as protagonists.

“Me, wearing other colours? I'll tell you the truth, I'm an Interista. Very much an Interista. This is the team I'm a fan of and these are my colours. There's a strong bond.

“Football is a business and anything can happen, but I'm wearing the captain's arm-band for Inter, I've been here three years and my objective is to win as a Nerazzurro. I want to make it.”

It's best for him to talk more less and start to behave like a true professional, captain and Interista !

More from that interview:

Icardi: 'Must do more for Inter'
By Football Italia staff

Mauro Icardi 'expected more' last season but believes Inter 'are growing and can pressure Juventus'.

The Argentine scored 16 goals over 33 games in Serie A last season, but he feels he has room to do better.

“Last season went well, but I was expecting more,” Icardi told Il Corriere dello Sport. “I always want the maximum from myself.

“Next season we have the same target as last year, which we failed to meet, and that's coming among the top three.

“Inter deserve to play in the Champions League. Having said that, of course we'll try going as far as possible in the Europa League.

“We won't repeat the same errors because we're growing and developing. Having played together for a few years will help us. We want to do well and pressure Juventus.”

Icardi was then asked about the Albiceleste, and whether he shared Leo Messi's decision to retire from the Argentina national team.

“The colours of the Seleccion represent a dream for every Argentine and I'm no exception. I'm training to earn myself a spot, but I know I'll have a chance only by doing well with Inter.

“As for Messi, he's the best player in the world. He had a moment of desolation after losing the Copa America final against Chile, because seeing the third important trophy slipping away from him in three years must have been awful.

“But I'm sure his anger must have subsided after the holidays. He's too important for Argentina and for football.”

Footballers and their pretentious diplomatic comments. It's not like they can go all frank saying "Yeah I want a new contract with big ass wages. Give me that or I'll leave for some other big club".

Well, actually they can say that but most just don't have the balls to do so and Icardi sadly falls into this category as well.

I agree that it s all hypothetical thats why i said i guess well see once he leaves. And yes there were games were we looked better without icardi.

I don't know the numbers at the end of the season, but Vito wrote this informative post in January:

Icardi On Field
Minutes: 1,452
Goals: 19
Record: 8-6-4

Icardi On Bench
Minutes: 618
Goals: 12
Record: 7-5-0

So basically I looked at how many minutes we have played this season with and without Icardi. I looked at how many goals we scored as a team with or without him and also how we were doing in the match with or without him (winning/tied/losing). So if we were winning a match without him on the field and then ended up losing after he came on the field, I counted it as a win without him and a loss with him. That is why the records may seem weird to you. If he played a full 90, nothing is added to the bench stats and if he didn't play at all, nothing is added to his playing stats.

Without him on the field, we have either been tied or ahead during those minutes. For example: Our 2-1 loss to Napoli. We were losing 1-0 while he was on the field, but if you look at just the minutes he was not on the field (the second half) we tied Napoli 1-1.

We average 1 goal every 76.4 minutes with him on the field, we average 1 goal every 51.5 minutes without him on the field. So we have 19 goals while he was on the field for about 1,452 minutes this season. If we played 1,452 minutes without him and kept the same average, we would have 28 goals instead of 19. The 19 goals is also boosted dramatically by the 4-0 games against Frosinone and Udinese...without those 2 games, these numbers would be even worse.

Now, I believe he has the potential to be a great striker and he has shown it in the past, just look at last season, so I think the blame needs to go on Mancini. Yes he has missed some easy opportunities, but I just don't think we are playing the kind of football that is needed to provide him with more chances.

I hate his guts but we're fucked if he leaves, no other forward in our squad is going to score 20+ goals and I definitely don't expect the management to find a suitable replacement. Playing with a more creative striker might sound good on paper but in reality we need a clinical striker like him IMO, who else is going to score all those goals ? Jovetic ? Lmao

Plus stats are deceiving. just because of those stats by no means resonates to Inter being better off without Icardi, just have to take stats with a pinch of salt.

Personally I like him as a player and like him in the team and think we're better off with him in the starting line up. But would understand if we sold him, because he's a little bitch. Although it all depends on his replacement. If we sold him and didnt replace him PROPERLY i'd be pissed.

Plus stats are deceiving in basketball etc when a player can be playing with the second stringers. How is it deceiving in this respect? Bearing in mind I have no idea how the stats look once the second half of the season is factored in.

If stats are deceiving, how exactly are we supposed to evaluate players
