And what about this shit I read that Fat Bastard has flown to Milan to complete his transfer to Inter? Hope the plane'll land after the deadline so the Fat Bastard can't sign the contract.

His contract expires next year anyway, so we won't need an option. If he impressed and wants to stay, we can sign him for free.

Reality is like this. Mariano will first of all be a back-up for Figo. They remind each other very much. Figo is getting older and shouldn't have to play so much this season. Mariano is a perfect player to step in.

His first position is as a right-winger, so do not expect him to be a starter as a left-winger.

Are you sure about the contract situation? www.transfermarkt.de, which usually is very trustworthy, says he's contracted to Palermo until 2009.

No, I'm not sure, since contractual stuff is very difficult to know for sure. I did read on some of the sources that his contract expired 2007. I certainly hope so. :D

Great day for me.

I am very happy to tell you that he - CAN!!!!

And not just can, he can ROCK on that position!!!!

When have you seen him play on that position? Personalyy, I have never seen him play there. Only as winger, no matter side, left or right... But never as AMF...

And I still would like to have option for permanent buy, no matter when his contract expires...

Well, to be honest, if he just came to be a RW, then I will be disappointed.

I thought that Maicon was supposed to be second in both RB and RW. That way he can have more chances to play and adapt. It was as ideal as a solution can get.

But I will trust ragazzofortunato (please man, give me an easier name :D ) and think that M-Gon can play on the hole and on the flanks.

Hmm a tad confusing if he's only here to back-up Figo. Is that not what Maicon is for? We now have more wingers than probably any other team in Europe, when we should have gotten a CM to back-up Cambiasso or Vieira. I don't need to say anything more than: Olivier Dacourt is the 4th option in central midfield. :|

But welcome to Inter Mariano. He's a solid player from what I've seen over the last couple seasons.

Versatile forward
González, 25, has played 51 games, scoring four goals for Palermo since joining from Argentinian side Racing Club de Avellaneda ahead of the 2004/05 campaign. A versatile player, he can operate on either flank or just behind the forwards and could take a key role in Inter's UEFA Champions League challenge with the Nerazzurri in Group B along with FC Bayern München, Sporting Clube de Portugal and FC Spartak Moskva.

Will be interesting to see in which position Mancini will finally use him...

this is a great transfer honestly, because we get him for free next season. He was rumoured to join for around 5 million to many clubs in January and now we get him for free, even I have to say congrats to the management.

for the record, he is much better than Santana, although not as calm and collected and professional, he is much better technically, another improvement in our squad.

The first option for the RW and LW (Stankovic can play in both) i think it's gonna be Maicon, if one day Figo and JZ can't play, then its gonna be Mariano and Maicon. good to have good subs.

5 millions no, cause it's only a loan, if we wanna get him next summer we would have to pay, catanha are u sure he is better than santana? in palermo santana play much more games..... well, anyway, i have not seen him very much, so i can't judge him right now.

Yeah, the worst sub we have right now is Olivie, i hope next summer they don't buy anything more than a good DM. MASCHERANOOOOOOO!!!!!!
And i would like to see Maxwell playing there, he can also do it there, or Zanetti also....

I have to agree with Helal in to a certain extent. Maicon's impressive pre-season performances should have warranted him a chance to be Figo's backup. However Hal, if we look into the future, it's unlikely that Figo will continue with us next season so Mariano Gonzales and Maicon will be our right-winger. :)

And hellyes, I know that you were w@nking all over this transfer, Jimmy. To be honest though, I know $hit about this guy.

Can someone tell me if this really is Inter? We're getting a promising right winger and selling an old useless ex-Laziale in a day? :D

No doubt is Mariano a future player, but I mean it wouldnt of hurt to wait a year or leave him with another team for a year and then take him because Figo will be gone by then.

Well you have valid point Hal, but since he can play on various positions, he would be great. Both flangs, and behind the strikers (I haven't seen him playing there though). And Maicon was btought in as sub for JZ mainly, it's just advantage he can play as RW too.

Maicon is really Capitano's backup, even if he can play on the wing. So it's good to have Gonzales here, I'm sure he's aware he's a squad player.

It's an alright transfer, but as a whole, he is not that good player folks. Like Catanha very well pointed out, he is NOT calm and collected at all. He shows glimpses of greatness now and then, but he's game is way too inconsistent for me to really appreciate him. I prefer Maicon.

I hope he proves me wrong and shines at Inter, but I have my doubts.

I don't like him that much. He is an overally very average player. From what I've seen, he can either be totally lost in the pitch, but he can also be totally amazing. Hope he'll give us some of the last one though.

I don't think he's worse than your Stankovic or less average than him!!!!!!!!!
