I saw Lautaro confessing after the match that in that first great chance he was going to one-touch it but changed his mind quickly. To me it indeed looked like a chance you should one-touch.

I wouldn't be worried about Lautaro. He's not a clinical finisher so it is what it is. Strikers can be world class despite not finishing clinically. He will learn from these aswell and will probably be a better finisher tomorrow than yesterday.

In general, agree with @brehme1989 that people need to take chill pills when it comes to players missing chances. Good teams can create tons of chances and they don't win every match 5-0. That's football.
i think the point is more about his poor goalscoring qualities in europe. One game, you'd be insane to be fussed, but there is a consistently mediocre in europe theme in terms of his strike rate. A few seasons ago he had the most shots, and 0? 1? goals in the group stages of any player..

Because the fucker was shooting at the legs of the three defenders standing in front of him

Cut him some slack, we will need him in next games more then ever, now that Thuram is gone.

It's just frustrating because everyone can see how talented he is as a player. And when the spotlight is on him in front of goal, he just shrinks.

Not Passing to Dumfries was a big mistake, this kind of mistakes costed us CL last year.
Don't agree here. Dumfries didn't get enough separation from his defender to make it the safe option. What he needed was a better 1 on 1 finish.

Well, Dumfries isn't even an option here

Arnautovic could have been but it'd require a Playstation view from Lautaro and the defender to fall asleep.

Thanks for showing us that shooting was the only option.

Just wanted to say that I think screenshots like this don't prove anything one way or another really. They don't show nor tell momentum of movement, they don't show the player's field of view and just how aware he is of what is going on.
You can cherry pick 30 different frames (half a second of real time) and find results that entirely negate each other.

And I stress this tenfold for situations like offsides/fouls. I hate that they became some kind of pseudo de-facto debate ender on the internet.

That Lautaro shot was through the defender's legs, so there was no other direction but straight. Maybe he should be faster or pass, but nobody was sure if that was a better decision. ATM defenders were super fast to block the side pass too.

His first chance (Thuram dishing) was more to blame. Miss the ball and terribly weak, with all the time in the world.

Dumfries would run where the pass would be, why the hell he would ran on straight line, watch video, defender was not closing dumfries, until he stopped.

He would have either had to ping it to him or play it through, putting Dumfries in a worse angle than he is. He could have played it sooner to him if he wanted, but I still don’t think it would be a higher percentage of scoring from that position. Lautaro hesitated in his 1v1 against a keeper who is very good at 1v1s.

Dumfries actually can score, but i understand that Lautaro is a striker, i'm only pissed cz he didn't put that in, and his shot is weak as his first chance.

Goal 100 in Serie A. He might actually reach 200 Serie A goals for us if he continues like this.
