Let me rephrase.
Too easy to say from a camera angle. Spotting Icardi there with the ball at that pace, so close to the edge of the box, would require someone with a passing ability of Modric/Laudrup/Guti/Xavi etc. And that's not something you'd expect from a forward. Icardi wouldn't have passed, Perisic wouldn't have passed, Keita wouldn't have passed, Brozovic wouldn't have passed, even Joao Mario wouldn't have passed. Only Valero out of our team would be able to spot Icardi there but even he would perhaps struggle to see the open space to lay it to him. The players don't have a PS game or TV view where they can see everything. It takes 1-2 seconds to realize that and sometimes that's not enough time to pull something off with defenders coming towards you. You can't seriously blame Lautaro for not giving the ball to Icardi. You can say that he could have done better with the 1-2 half-chances he got, that's about it.
