Played well in his right position. Hope he continues he was an upgrade on his former self in defence too. I think made one mistake in the back only.

When I first saw him, I thought he seemed a bit scared and afraid to pull in challenges, but I think that was because of his injury. It's a breath of fresh air as he makes the right decisions most of the time and is great on the ball.

I know you're all desperately craving for a rightback with creativity and even an ounce of offensive credibility, and that's ultimately why you are praising this guy, but what you're seeing in Cancelo isn't actually that. He's a pacy player with the ability to (sometimes) beat his man off the dribble, but his effectiveness going forward and ability to link-up even compared to someone like D'Ambrosio (with Candreva) leaves a lot to be desired. His crossing is extremely limited, and with our current gameplan, if you can't even do that, what's the point?

On the other hand, defensively, he is as limited as they come. Look at him not following Bonaventura in the 3-2 Milan Derby. Look at him being caught in no man's during Falcinelli's header and in the same game being as close to conceding a penalty and getting away with it as you can get in the modern game. Look at him being utterly destroyed by Bonaventura in a 1v1 header in the latest Coppa game. And so forth.
He might've done a nifty tackle in one of those games, but his tactical awareness is close to zero. It might be more than good enough for Valencia, but it sure isn't good enough for the Italian game.

Anyway, what I write or any of you write doesn't really matter -I refuse to believe this club chooses to blow its whole summer-transfer budget on a player who can at most be categorized as decent in a position where we're not exactly lacking players.

How his crossing is extremely limited? Every cross this dude makes is dangerous, his passes are almost accurate most of the time, and he is not afraid to try forward passes, this guy is fucking skillful and has crazy technique. His defensive side can be improved.

I really hope he plays like this and actually develop into a good RB, I’d redeem him because I’ve had enough of players with limited skills in this team who shit their pants wheneve they receive the ball.

He was better defensively tonight too, no panicking or errors and that against superior opposition than previous. Looks to me like he's growing. He's the first FB at Inter who has impressed me in years.

I'm liking his forward passing too. Quite a few times when it looks like we're going to lose the ball, he has the vision and technique to pull off passes that immediately set up our attacks. Nonetheless, I'm still conflicted whether we should redeem him considering the large sum of money we need to spend. Too many players have regressed here instead of developing after a promising start of their Inter career. I'd wait until the end of the season to see if he can keep up with it.

luckily we have the rest of the season to figure it out. hopefully we get that goal scoring mid like pastore or mhiky. we need a shot in the ass, and I hope we don't waste time

He's not worth €40m. No way we will pay that for an average player. Another shitty Suning deal.

He was on Rube's radar as well...
He is a good player, and will become even better...with Spallo's magic as he believes in him...in the end you will beg Suning to buy him for any price...good fullbacks are rare this days

Him and Dalbert are quite talented they just need to get ahold of the Italian game
Cancelo doing it quicker...

But €40m? Thomas Meunier at PSG is far superior and €40m for him is better value than €40m for Cancelo.

He was our best player yesterday.
He looked more focused than he did in his previous appearances when defending, and he's certainly a better player than D'Ambrosio in the opposition's half. It's also worth mentioning that right now he's probably the only player in our team who can actually pull off a dribbling out of a standstill (Perisic is the other one, but lately he doesn't have the necessary strength to sprint past the opponent and recover the ball). It could be interesting to see him with Dambro when he recovers from his injury.

This guy is actually really good but he needs some guidance from the coach, I wonder if he should be a RW because he does know how to cut inside and pass not cross all the time like someone

This guy is Jordi Alba in the making,,

I mean this guy is very very suited for Spanish football, He fast, can dribble and had high technique.
But he had problem in with his physical presence.

If Candreva is replaced by Neymar or Messi, i think we will get effect of Cancelo as RB.

That’s what I was thinking too. I wonder, when D’Ambrosio comes back, Spalletti tries a combination of #33 Rb, with Cancelo RW.
It can’t be worse then Candreva and his shitty form lately.

He has more ball than dumbro. As stated above, i like his trick and has courage to move ball forward and its pretty accurate .

That his playing style in Valencia, and any full back in La Liga do that.

You can see Alba, Marcelo, and Felipe Luis do that.

I'm not really on-board with all the suggestions that he should be a RW. Playing as an attacking full-back and as a winger are very different, you can't just push a full-back up 30 meters and expect the same thing. I haven't really seen anything that would suggest Cancelo would be a better RW than RB. His best performance so far has been at RB. It makes sense to try to build on that instead of shifting his position.
