Understandable that he is greedy because it will be his last big contract, but we shouldn't give him that much money. I like Ivan, he is a true professionell and in the last months he has been in great form, but apparently it is time to part ways with him. Sad that Ralf Rangnick is at Man Utd because otherwise we could have snatched Alex Telles for a decent price.

So ... are there any cheap options out there besides Kostic?

None in free agency. Digne seems to be out of Everton and they have already signed his replacement but i have no idea how much they would ask for him. Lodi barely plays at Atletico so he could be available on loan. If Stuttgart go down, Sosa could be a decent cheap option. I can't think of anyone else.

Agree that 4m is max, MAYBE 4.5 for two years. That wouldn't save us any cost though. Kostic with 10m fee would be cheaper given he accepts less than 3m salary (with Growth Decree).

That's of course the negotiation, he's maybe targeting 4m so gotta start with 6m. I don't see him getting 6m anywhere, even 5m is unlikely.

The Ajax left back Mazraoui has a contract which ends next summer. But the last Eredivisie wingback we got hasn't lit the league on fire yet, so I am not sure he would be good enough as a starter. Perisic is one of our best players, these are big shoes to fill.

Yeah. He's a rb. I can't see us going for a rwb in the summer. While we can certainly take un upgrade, Darmian-Dumfries is decent for our current state and we have much bigger needs (backup cbs, backup midfielders, lwb, forward). Besides, he's also linked with Barcelona and Bayern so it wouldn't be easy to get him.

I thought the growth decree tax exemption thing was ended anyway?

Wasn't there even some wild speculation that we would have to pay back the money we saved on Eriksen and Lukaku's salaries?

as far as i know its all still speculation - theres no new law yet to replace the growth decree. its conceptually not impossible, but highly unlikely, that we'll have to owe back taxes on eriksen/lukaku/etc. The club would be able to sue on the basis that that was the legal framework at that point in time - you cant go and retrospectively apply things just because you didnt like it, you can only equalise "from now"

I hear speculation here that Conte plans to steal both our Croats as he tries to increase the work rate of his Spurs side. Brozovic will improve their midfield, while Perisic provides a back up for both their LWB and attack as Conte plays 3-4-3 with Spurs.

I hope this is not true. The two Croats add a lot of quality to our starting XI, and replacing that level of quality will be very expensive - money which we just don't have. Marotta, please lock these two guys down asap.

Also will never forget how he was crying for months in the media for new contract and then when we paid him like a star back then he turned into a complete shit.And then later even refusing to play wingback for Conte in his first season so Conte gave up and he was loaned to Germany.

I guess Bayern was a big reality check for him.He needed to finally put some effort if he wanted to save his career.

Having said that,he is awesome for us this whole year.Finally playing according to his salary after underperforming for years,some will say.

He's probably looking for 3-year deal but I can see Marotta offering 2 years, but with a lower salary than now.

Talked badly about fans who are against mafia in Croatian football and are not coming for games anymore,calling them fake fans cause they are not cheering for NT run my mafia few years back.Long story short.Somehow almost everyone forgot about that after WC success.People will always have short memory.He,Modrić,Lovren,Rakitić...all of them are traitors as far as I'm concerned.I guess he was at least not involved in stealing money from his own club like some others.
