Right, we have a grand total of 4 CBs; perfect to play a 3 man defense for Serie A,CL, and coppa.

I realise Allegri would be the most logical option as a Conte successor but I would fear for Hakimi if we hired him. His past with Cancelo makes me worried.

The biggest issue is going to be the left side. We only have two players who can play as lb and they're both 35 years old. There's also Bastoni but no one really knows if he can play as a lb at a top level.

I wouldn’t judge Allegri based on the Cancelo issue. Apparently Cancelo is a bit of a dick. Which is why neither Spalletti nor Allegri was keen to keep him.
