I guess 3-5-2 is ideal for this situation, and to quote one of our assisstant coaches from 2 years back"they wont know what hit them"...Problem is there are too many variables no matter what we do in the back and the 3-5-2 might be more of adding a problem than solving one...

Just our luck that when Favalli plays decent again we miss him for such a big game...

Its probably gonna be Matrix-Miha in the middle with JZ on the left and ZeMaria on the right....anything else will be a huge suprise.

MILAN - Over 70,000 tickets have been sold for tonight's eagerly-awaited Uefa Champions League Round of 16 return leg against Porto at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.

The 'Biglietteria Nord' will open at 16:30 tomorrow for the distribution of tickets bought online, while the remaining tickets (mostly in the third tier) will go on sale at the 'Biglietteria Sud' from 17:30.

==================================================================

If I'm not mistaken, that's more than the Derby and the Milan -- ManU game.

Please, take a look at the fans, and realize that there are 100 times that on earth. Please put on a decent display and advance.

Hamed the derby was a sell-out if im right but I dont know about the milan-man u game. I just hope the players will do there best and show what we are worth as u said whole of europe will be watching us. So that is extra reason for us to wipe out those negative thoughts about Inter that we play defensevily cause we DONT. I hope we will attack thim big time.

My Line-up

Toldo

Ze Maria-Gamarra-Mihajlovic-Javier Zanetti

Van der Meyde-Veron-Cambiasso-Stankovic

Vieri-Adriano

But we all know that Matrix will play with Miha and Cristiano instead of Vdm.

Whatever happens if we go out today I will really consider doing a hijack on a bus and show people what suffering is :p.

guys I think even Matrix-Miha can handle Porto. If you recall the first leg there attack was very lackluster and there goal came from a mistake from toldo. I honestly think they had some kind of Dragao Stadium luck. I think we can dominate in the same manner and hopefully get some San Siro luck :D

I feel pretty confident even though I had a nightmare where Porto was up 3-0 after the first 35 min and won 7-0  :scared:

A myth says that the only way to prevent a forseen tragedy is to put the forseer to eternal sleep.

I am coming to Sudbury as we speak, I got 3 more hours! I can do it. Good that I have that picture of yours. The bad part is that it only shows your middle section, but I'm going to do strip investigation. Anything for Inter. :D

I think that Mancio won't use a 4 man defence tonight. Why? I'll tell you my logic and opinion.
In last night's interview, Mancio said that he doesn't called Coco up due to TECHNICAL reason. So what is this technical reason?
Remember the Called up players for the match against Lazio. We had the same problem as we have for tonight's match at LB because Favali was absent. Mancio decided to play that match with a 4man defence formation as the necessary players and especially Cordoba was ready and he could fulfill Favali's abcence with J.Z at LB BUT still he called up Coco as a backup, even he played and his performance was acceptable in that match.

As (1)both Favali, Burdisso and Cordoba aren't there and (2)the match against Chievo showed that Matrix-Miha duo isn't a reliable combination (although that Mancio said that they had trained with each other since that match) and (3)Ze-M and J.Z aren't that good at respectively RB and LB and also (4) Coco isn't called up, I think that Mancio wants to use a 3man defence formation.
At the winter break of this season, when pasquale loaned out, Mancio used to call up Coco as a starter or a back up like in the matches against Parma, Sampdoria and Livorno, until he got injured again. Of course we should accept Coco's performances wasn't any good enough for a club like Inter but we have a crucial game that is combined with an emergency in our defence tonight and even some average players would be useful for us. As Mancio hasn't named Coco even as a backup, that's why I think that Mancio wants to start with another type of defending formation.
I'm not saying that I'm sure about this, but what Mancio said yesterday makes me predict a 3man defence tonight.

Somebody please tell me Martins is ready to go and Cruz will not play. After reading Mancini's interview on Inter.it looks like he fancies Cruz starting over everybody else.

Which is actually not that bad of an idea. Having Martins on the bench is a luxury and a fantastic weapon. Cruz on the bench makes no significant difference if we need a striker on.

And since Martins isn´t fully fit, I´d rather see him play at the end of the game, than being subbed out when the Porto defenders are tired.

I predict two line ups:

-------------Toldo
-----J.Z---Matrix---Miha-----
Ze-M---Cambi--C.Z----Stan
-------------Veron
-------Cruz
------------------Adriano

* Cruz can help the Midfield and this is so useful in this match. Of course Ze-m, Stankovic and Mihailovic should cross a lot of balls for him.
* With this formation we can be very well both offensive and defensive and also this is so balanced.
* Stankovic can be replaced with Kily as Kily is better in defensive moves but I think it reduces the offensive balance as Stankovic can help the attack better than Kily, especially in central moves. It deponds on the match's situation.
* Cambiasso can take a more offensive roll than C.Z and C.Z must stay there to do the dirty works and distract the opposit offensive moves.
* Where J.Z has been placed make us miss his byline offensive moves but Ze-M can do it, especially with his crosses but in some phases of the match J.Z can change his place with Ze-M.
* Adriano can shoot from out side of the 18yards area but surely the opposit mids. won't allow him to shoot. I hope that Adriano would stay in the porto's area to get the passes from Veron, Stankovic and Cambiasso. Of course Porto's defence will keep him so tightly but this would create some extra space for Veron and Cruz.
* Veron is placed where Hamed like him to be.
* I hope our defence would handle the opposite pressure while Cambiasso and C.Z will give them more cover and support.

My 2nd Line up:
Toldo
Ze-M--Gammara--Mihailovic--J.Z
--------------C.Z
-Veron--Cambiasso--Stankovic
-----Cruz/Oba---Adriano
* Surely Gammara isn't as bad as Matrix. With Matrix on the pitch we would risk a Red Card, A penalty, or/and conceeding a goal.

Hetfild, I will personally give you this forum if Mancini play a three-men defence with Javier Zanetti in it, and Stankovic as a left wingback. ;)

You use offensive fullbacks as wingbacks in that formula (Kily is an exception, since he can pull it off), plus central defenders in the entire defence.
