You use offensive fullbacks as wingbacks in that formula (Kily is an exception, since he can pull it off), plus central defenders in the entire defence.

Is Ze-M in this formation an offensive fullback? What's an offensive fulback? Do you mean wing? And about Stankovic I said that Kily would be better than Stan in defensive moves. If we wanted to defend a first leg victory then we could use Kily there. Also Stankovic and Ze-M aren't there to be win backs. I didn't call that a 3412 formation. Maybe how the players are placed is like that but the players will have some extra described duties. Stankovic and Ze-M aren't there to be wingbacks. They should support the attack and creat some pressing on the opposit players. They should get the tempo of the match to gether with Veron. They would balance the defensive and offensive moves. I say it again, it's not a Zaceroni's 3412.
And about the 3man defence:
J.Z and Mihailovic wouldn't have any offensive duty. I said it in under my line up that J.Z shouldn't move forward. Mihailovic is a LCM and it's not a huge diffrence between a LCD of 442 and the LD of 3412. J.Z had played in several rolls for us. When he can play as a CM, ACM, CB, LW, RW, LB beside his favorite RB he surely can play as a LD in a 3412. Do you remember what Zac said about him last year? "J.Z is a player that plays any rolls that a coach gives him and he always does his duties.

My dear Jimmy, It seems that you've forgotten that we are in an emergency situation.

Cruz is a good finisher and he is even better on a big stage...If given the chance and he is supplied with nice passes he will make the most of them i am sure...His last goal against Lazio shows that, plus he almost scored a hatrick against Valencia in the time he came in...I am not worried about him,iam worried about the service he will get.

I am kinda worried that every Porto's attacking move would be scary ones, coz they can attack well and yeah, coz of our defence ??

Emre starting this match would be GREAT !! And just imagine what would happen if he does play a great game. Atleast we will get to know what the truth really is, coz he would be interviewed !! :)

UEFA Preview..
----------------
Mancini mounts Inter offensive
Tuesday, 15 March 2005
By Ivan Carvalho in Milan

As FC Internazionale Milano aim to become the third Italian side into the draw for the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, coach Roberto Mancini has pledged that his players will not sit back as they welcome holders FC Porto for the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Uncharacteristic error
Inter came back from the Estádio do Dragão with a 1-1 draw after an uncharacteristic error from goalkeeper Francesco Toldo enabled Porto's Ricardo Costa to cancel out Obafemi Martins's opener. A goalless draw at the San Siro would now see Inter through, although Mancini is adamant his team will be playing for a victory. "We will look to control the match," said the coach. "Success in this game is fundamental for our season. We have great respect for Porto, for what they have done. But Inter will play to win."

Stakes high
Captain Javier Zanetti echoed Mancini's comments, saying: "We will have to be wary of the potential pitfalls, but we want to take the game into our own hands." With Inter 16 points behind leaders AC Milan in Serie A, Zanetti is well aware the Champions League is the club's best chance of silverware this season. "We know what is at stake," he said.

Striking partners
Mancini's men breezed through the group stage, scoring 14 goals including four from striker Adriano, who despite a recent slump has produced some memorable displays in Europe. Fitness concerns surrounding Martins and Christian Vieri may force Mancini to start Argentinian Julio Cruz alongside the Brazilian.

Defensive worries
A bigger worry for Mancini is his defence as Colombian Iván Cordoba and left-back Giuseppe Favalli are both suspended. With Nicolás Burdisso also missing for family reasons, Inter must rely on 36-year-old Sinisa Mihajlovic to pair up with Italian international Marco Materazzi in central defence.

Tempting fate
Porto have endured their own tribulations since winning the tournament last May. Following José Mourinho's summer defection to Chelsea FC, Luigi Del Neri and Víctor Fernández have both been hired and fired, and the latest incumbent, José Couceiro, tempted fate as he oversaw a 4-0 home loss to CD Nacional on Friday - Porto's worst home defeat in 30 years.

We're at a disadvantage, so it means we will have to risk more than Inter

José Couceiro

Risky policy
Couceiro conceded that Inter have the upper hand after scoring in Porto. "We're at a disadvantage, so it means we will have to risk more than Inter," said Couceiro. "All their forwards have great technical skill and are a threat so we have to keep an eye on them."

Patient approach
The holders will at least be reassured by the presence of Brazilian playmaker Diego and veteran defender Jorge Costa after both missed the first leg through suspension. Captain Jorge Costa stressed that Porto's experience in European competition will be a huge help. "We know how to play in big games like this," he said. "We just have to be patient over the 90 minutes and wait for our chance to strike."

'Terrible situation'
Besides losing midfielder Bosingwa to injury, Porto are shorn of forward Luís Fabiano, who has not travelled after his mother was kidnapped in Brazil last Friday. Regarding Fabiano, Jorge Costa said: "It is a terrible situation to be in but we are all behind him at this difficult time."

By the way Emre could have said that because he wants more playing time and to show that he wont be silent for long seeing he deserves more than others...who get to play no matter how much they suck

Good night Champions League! Mancini does the unthinkable and play the defensive duo from hell, instead of putting Gamarra in there.

All day I haven't been able to stop thinking about this match. Over dinner it culminated when my dad began telling anecdotes about how he and his cousin used to imitate Facchetti in the 60's for his revolution of the game. And how they used to play Inter because of the iron defence of 'Grande Inter'. He finished off by suggesting this as a reason as to why I today am the strictly result-oriented Interista.

I have now seen the lineups and our worst nightmare has been confirmed. The sight of duo Materazzi - Mihajlovic up against McCarthy, Diego and whatnot is simply to much to bear.

I am no longer nevous. I am terrified! Of the Inter players' irrational fear of losing, namely in crucial moments. Ah well...

Martins will be a possible joker for us on the bench. I have faith in Mancini's tactical brilliance and up until now I have believed in victory. Only time, destiny, Porto, the boys and a cheering Fabio at Giuseppe Meazza on a mild spring night will tell the story of the exciting drama we will all soon witness.

FORZA RAGAZZI!
