Eintracht coach Adolf Hütter (depicted here doing to Hütter-salute) will be watching from the stands. I guess that's a plus.

from footballitalia
Eintracht Frankfurt Coach Adi Hütter and midfielder Makoto Hasebe “firmly believe” they can eliminate Inter from the Europa League.

The first leg ended 0-0 in Germany and the Europa League Round of 16 decider is at San Siro on Thursday.

“We expect to face a top team in a decidedly special stadium, where there will be many of our fans as well as theirs,” Hütter told the club website.

“Unfortunately, I won’t be on the touchline due to a ban, but I am certain it’ll be a special evening. We need a super performance and a goal.”

Midfielder Hasebe is also fired up for the second leg, as Marcelo Brozovic missing a penalty could yet prove decisive.

“There will be many fans following us to San Siro to cheer us on, so I expect a great atmosphere. We are up against a top team and I can’t wait to get on to the pitch.

“I firmly believe we can qualify.”

Eintracht are unbeaten in 13 Europa League games and the 0-0 first leg result means Inter must win to go through, otherwise they’d be eliminated on away goals.

A repeat goalless draw would mean extra time and possibly penalties.

I love that people still had the balls to name their kid "Adolf" after WW2.

You think that name might be a problem?

Ummmmm, nahhhhhhh.

it's not just that they named him adolf, but that their last name almost sounds like hitler. :eek:blivious: sounds a bit of a stupid thing to do to me.

Is Edy "Juan Jesus" Salcedo available for selection? I'm the last guy to ask for our youth players to get game time but given the absences I don't see how Spalletti can go into this match without taking at least one or two youth team midfielders and forwards.

After Inter-Spal, Spalletti said that "someone won't play in his usual role" against Eintracht, given the emergency.
Ranocchia aside, I'm expecting:

1) Skriniar in the trenches of midfield

2) The long-awaited debut of Tommadja Bernnoilan as AM/assaulter, to surprise and confuse the opponents at least for a while

And more. This will be a game of attrition and we have to make a virtue of necessity.

Here's the deal, I would like to see Skriniar as a DMF who simply stops attacks/creates counter attacks and not much more, because while I think he is one of the few who can actually shoot from long distance, I don't see him making too many offensive dribbles.
But at the same time I would rather unironically have Frog as a CF than having to rely on him as a CB. Catch 22.
And I would also put Keita on the wing rather than as a sole striker, we need someone who can harass their fullbacks properly.

It's hard to predict formations because I don't think even Spalletti knows what he is going to use yet. What about the Eintracht squad, are the players who missed the first leg back? Meaning this could be twice as harder match now because their squad is stronger and our is weakened.

While i agree with both of you, you don't take into consideration the possibility that those people could be Nazi/Neo-Nazi supporters. Because if they were, then in their eyes naming their child after "The Fuhrer" woud be considered an honour. Sadly there are still people who think this way.

Dogen (my phone tried to autocorrect to "dogshit"), you know as well as I do the player playing out of position will be Politano as a striker. Though if the best we can manage is to pump long balls into the box then I'm 10000% serious that Ranocchia should start as a forward.

Rebic could be back for this match though it will be tough. Else, Gacinovic will start again. Gelson Fernandes is suspended so they'll either start De Guzman or they'll move Hasebe to midfield and start another CB. The rest are expected to be the same.

This is what GdS predict for us:

One big difference between us and them in regard to this match is that it comes for us before the Derby, which is arguably as important if not more important (not per se, but because the champions League is at stake), while to them every match in europe league is the most important of the season.

I hope this gap in motivation doesn't show too much tomorrow

Haven’t had time to read a lot in the last couple of days. Is Lautaro banned from this game or are we resting him for the derby?
