Will Francesco Toldo be Inter's goalkeeper next year?

Facchetti:
"Sure. When we were letting in too many goals it seemed like it was only his fault. In the last five months, when we let in as many as Juventus and Milan, and perhaps even fewer, the merit has been all his. Balance is required. After finding its own balance on the pitch, the team has guaranteed greater security and cover for the goalkeeper. Toldo is a fantastic goalkeeper and his call-up for the 'Football for Hope' charity match in Barcelona last February is further proof of this. There are very few goalkeepers in the world that are at the level of Francesco Toldo, who is still among the best today."

:proud:

Toldo is no longer one of the top goalkeepers in the world today ...... otherwise Faccetti would have offerred him a new contract

But we dont have the resources to replace him ..... so he will have to last another season

Without Samuel and a great LB , i can see Toldo struggling even worse than last season

Toldo will effectively be replaced next season since I doubt he will be offered a new contract.

One more year for Toldo isnt a bad thing..I like that they are keeping the faith in him although it is for more than just one reason.

Toldo is a top class talent. I don't know how much coverage of inter you get in India (do you get ANY?) but if you watched Toldo last season, pretty much after the 2nd game against Porto he was outstanding.

well what do you expect us to do? buy Casillas, Cech, Buffon or Dida? this would costs millions. We are better off strengthening our defence. Toldo is good enough. He can't be expected to make miracle saves, just put up a solid guard for most shots. I'm satisfied with his level. He's not infallible but who is.

Toldo still No 1, say Inter
Thursday 7 July, 2005
Inter President Giacinto Facchetti has told Francesco Toldo that he will be the club’s No 1 ‘keeper in the new campaign.

There were doubts over the veteran’s future at the San Siro, given his difficulties last term, but the Italian is set to be given a key role again.

"Toldo will be the goalkeeper next season," stated Facchetti. "When we conceded a lot of goals last term, it just seemed like it was his fault.

"However, in the last five months when we conceded fewer goals than Juventus and Milan, it was because of him.

"You need balance in a side and when we found that it gave the goalkeeper more protection."

The former Fiorentina hero was dropped for a period last term by boss Roberto Mancini, fuelling rumours of a possible exit.

But the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit still have confidence in the Euro 2000 star, especially after allowing his possible replacement Sebastien Frey to leave Parma for Fiorentina.

"Toldo is a great goalkeeper," added Facchetti. "There are few shot-stoppers in the world at Francesco’s level. He is still one of the best around."

GOOD NEWS FOR ME, FRANCESCO TOLDO IS THE BEST KEEPER FOR INTER RIGHT NOW

FORZA TOLDONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chievo Looking For New Goaltender
7/8/2005 7:54:00 AM
Guardalben, Cejas and Taibi are the favourites to take over from Marchegiani.
With Luca Marchegiani heading towards Roma, the Flying Donkeys are looking for a new goalkeeper for next season.

According to the latest transfer speculation, the three main candidates to tend the Chievo goalposts are Matteo Guardalben, Massimo Taibi and Sebastian Cejas.

In other Chievo news, Panathinaikos are close to sign forward Federico Cossato from the Verona-based club.

Errm...Cesar?
