It's hilarious to me that one of the greatest DFs of the 90s can't get our back 4 to defend competently. I guess it's an Inter thing.
We lack aggression, collective play, intelligent off the ball movement i.e. moving into space, triangles
There's also too much fear apparent in our play, the full backs don't push-up to support our attacks, everyone is afraid we will lose possession and expose ourselves on the counter. But we're significantly outnumbered in the final third so we end up losing the ball anyway
This fear a clear case of self-fulfilling-prophecy-itis.
It's going to be tough out there for De Boer tonight. But for me he deserves at least until end of 2016 to try out his ideas and get the best out of this team. But he needs to be more hands on. This Inter needs a manager constantly on the touch line aggressively shouting out instructions ala Simeone or Conte. A lot of these players don't belong on this team (Ranocchia, Ambrosio, Candreva, Medel) they constantly switch off, forget their roles or instructions because they lack composure, big game mentality or the requisite skill.
Torino are one of the form sides in serie a. All the best to this guy.
