lol, I am doing nothing and am so bored !! And I do think that this player deserves a thread here, with the rumours going around since months.

He's defnitely a very good DM but lots of us have yet to see more of him. There are unconfirmed reports stating that he can't even make a simple pass:D but I am few others don't tend to agree with that, after all, why would he be bought for such a big amount of $$ from Lyon, even though it is Real Madrid who splashed that $$.

If rumours say that we are seriously after him, he has never stated his desire to make his move and has always stated that he would love to stay with Madrid, but what else could he say.

He definitely shined with Capello, a defensive coach who would play with 2 pure DMs' but had not been a regular starter for the current Real team, ever since he made his return from African Nations Cup / injury as well (? not sure with that), as Gago has taken his place.

But what more can we expect from Real Madrid, who have already offloaded the likes of Cambiasso and Makelele (for money though, yet Real shouldn't have worried abt $$, when it came to keeping Makelele).

And bang Makelele !! Makelele joined Chelsea then and played regularly under Mourinho. I happened to check almost all of Mourinho's formation, which he used in Porto and Chelsea (League and Champs League) and almost all the time, I found out that he would play a DM (Makelele - Costinha/?) as a pure DM, just infront of the defence.

Diarra might just be the player he might want in Inter to start his special one journey. Mourinho is the kind of coach who pays one heck of an attention to defence and Diarra, being a pure DM, might just be the answer. Telling frankly for the upteenth time, I would have loved to see a duo of Cambiasso - Lucho but it seems that a pure DM is a MUST, according to others and looking at the way we have been rumoured to Diarra all the time, there might be something which I might be unaware of.:D

--------- Diarra --------------
--Hleb---------Cambiasso-----
-------------Diego------------

would still be the kind of line-up I would want but heck, I wouldn't care who plays, as long as we keep on winning. I have seen Roma not been able to win trophies season after season, despite having played wonderful football and have seen such a brand of football in Mancini's first season with us , which gave him a brand name -- "Mr.X"

Then again, I don't think at all that just Hleb would be enough for us. We must sign someone other than Hleb (if that's an already or almost done deal). Be it A.Mancini/Quaresma/?, with us opting for a pure 4-4-2 or 4-3-1-2 (Diego) but I don't think that all that Hleb would be enough to bring all those so called creative stuff in our game.

I also think that we might be better suited to play 4-4-2 with the wing-backs we have. Anywaz, who cared and who knows till Mourinho himself has his first conference and if by chance he happens to say which formation he might want to play !! lol

Or do I know Hleb pretty well ??:)

---------------------------------------

Some articles and comments on him:

Great player. Fantastic work ethic. A mixture of Xabi and Masch without being as good as either two in their strongest virtues, I.e., passing and tackling respectively.

Best way to describe him is think of the early great performances of Momo.

Rarely has a bad game, but gets visibly distracted and angry when the oppo wants to mix-it.

Biography
Diarra started his career with Greek side OFI Crete and Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem. He played for French club Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) from 2002 until 2006, winning four Ligue 1 titles. Diarra was compared to top French midfielders like Patrick Vieira and Claude Makélélé. Many people who have worked with him, including former Vitesse Arnhem manager Ronald Koeman, felt that Diarra had the potential to succeed at the highest sporting level, but that he needed to learn how to control his strong temperament.

Real Madrid
He was rated very highly by Lyon manager Gérard Houllier, who said that Diarra would not be leaving Lyon cheaply. His €40 million price tag matched the price Chelsea F.C. paid Lyon for Michael Essien in the summer 2005. Real Madrid joined in the race to sign Diarra, along with Manchester United, and on August 18, 2006 Real Madrid reached an agreement with Lyon for €26 million. On August 22, he was unveiled at the Santiago Bernabeu by Real Madrid president Ramón Calderón, and he was assigned the number 6 shirt; Iván Helguera's prior season shirt number.

In the 2006-2007 season, Diarra was a staple player in Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello's 2-defensive midfielder system; however, a string of poor results saw Diarra relegated to the bench in favor of a new system. Guti, a more offensive-minded midfielder replaced him, while Capello favored Brazilian Emerson in the defensive position. By mid-December, Diarra, complaining about lack of playing time, found himself a regular on the Real Madrid bench. In May 2007 Diarra was linked with a summer move to Italian side AC Milan. In the final game of the season, however, Diarra headed in a match-winning goal in Madrid's come-from-behind victory over Real Mallorca. Diarra put in a strong overall performance in the match, which Madrid went on to win 3-1. The victory saw Madrid win La Liga and end its longest trophy drought in half a century. Diarra's main strength is his workrate and his power in the air, but his only weakness is his temperament. He was one of Madrid's best players when they won the league. Diarra was supposed to be playing for Mali instead of Madrid in the last match of the season, but FIFA ordered him to play for Madrid in that game.

I heard he played a killer game in the El Classico. I hope we can sign him, so we can finally get a true DM and perhaps replace Vieira. He'll also relieve Cambiasso of this defensive duty. However, as it has been said for so many times, our primary transfer objective must be an AM.

can someone answer my question. if it was the diara who assisted Higuain for real's 3rd goal, then he played an amazing game against barcelona!~

edit, found out it is the same diarra. In that case, if he can play consistently as he did against barca, he should start. He set up some beutiful balls, and had a gorgeous assist to higuain!

One great performance in El Classico won't impress me, since Barcelona had no desire nor grit.

I've love to see him at Inter. Our team lacks a pure destroyer like Diarra. Yes, we have several CM's who are defensive oriented but it's not their job to disrupt the other team like a pure DM like Diarra does. Cuchu is much better when he doesn't have to play in front of the defense like Han touched on. If he gets rid of Vieira all the better.

A perfect Mourinho player.

Diarra as the destroyer alongwith Vieira and Cambiasso would be tremendous in a 4-3-3 especially with our wingbacks or a 4-3-1-2 if we get a better AM than Hleb. I have nothing against the Arsenal guy, but we should atleast try for something like a Diego or a Messi.

I like that formation Diarra(DM), Vieira and Cambiasso like CM and Hleb or someone better like AM but... where to put capitano? Like you said we have great wing-backs and Zanetti is definitely inferior from Maicon on RB and on left flank I wanna see left-footed player.

We will have big problems next season with Vieira if we buy Diarra because he will be benched, best solution is to sell him to Tottanham, Newcastlle or Man City.

I woudnt mind selling Vieira if we get a good price. But keeping him is also necessary if we dont renew Dacourt's contract. I dont think Bolzoni is ready yet. We will play capitano, Vieira is very injury prone. We also dont have another RB if Maicon gets injured or something.

Assuming Mourinho plays 4-3-3, if all players are in form, Deki, Cambiasso & Diarra would be

Although one has to wonder where will Il Capitano play then. :stress:

Even though I would love Stankovic to stay with us as a squad player first (if he does well, he will start), I doubt it's gonna happen if Mourinho comes. Stankovic won't stay with us, if Mancini leaves coz he would be sure that he would be benched, I guess. :D

That's why I guess Hleb/?-Aquilani/?-? are coming and for the good of Inter.

Mancini+Stankovic+Mihajlovic all come in a package deal huh. ;)

Absolutely. Zanetti has many advantages over Diarra, few to mention are his pace, stamina, dribbling and balance. Zanetti is one of the best in the world in those four skills.

I wish if we can renew Dacourt's contract so he can be a back up for this DM role. That will be 100 times better than spending 20M on Diarra.

Besides, we also have Pele. Chivu can cover that role when the other 3 players aren't available, which is highly unlikely.

Players are more suited to their own roles. J.Zanetti does his best when played in the wing back positions and RCM/LCM. Even though J.Zanetti can play in that role (after all, where might he not be able to play and still perform well?), players like Dacourt/Diarra might perform much better due to their technical abilities. It’s just like Zlatan does his best when played as a second striker but people expect him to score tons of goals.

[FONT=&quot]Under Mourinho, I think that J.Zanetti can cover various roles – RB/LB/RCM/LCM.

:)

I was just browsing real madrid forum and damn, had to see lots of worse news on Diarra. Real Madrid players after their victory over ?? (not Real) were chanting - "Diarra shouldn't be sold, bla bla". Raul has also been rumoured to have met the president and have told that the key players not to be sold, so on. Diarra has definitely been one of their impressive players since some time and this is no good news for us.

May be we should look for other alternatives as well. If Real really doesn't want to sell him now, then the only other reason we might see Diarra in Inter colors would be IF Zlatan decides to join Real.:p

All of a sudden, Diarra has been said to be making good passes as well.

I had never doubted that Diarra was that piss poor with passes coz even though I was worried thinking if this weird thing was true - HOW CAN such an expensive player not even make a simple pass ??

Diarra is definitely a player who would be loved by Mourinho for sure. If not him, then we should look for others. I just hope that Real makes a huge mistake or they assume that Gago is better than him (Gago is good for sure, from which I have read).:D

Forza Real, another Cambiasso - Samuel :star:

Lets keep up the Inter - Real tradition:
(1) Cambiasso
(2) Samuel
(3) Figo
(4) Zamorano (joined Inter from Real Madrid in 1996)
(5) Panucci (We bought him from Real 99-00)
(6) Solari

Yeah, some moves back fired but still would be good to have him. If he's really good as many people have been saying lately, then lets go !!

I always doubted him cause I never saw too much of him...
So I decided to do it and I am impressed with him and like him as player, a lot.
He aint creative, but its not his job, play him as DM and build good midfield around him with players who are creative, good technique and stuff...It would work great
