It can suit him better when we are attacking from the left flank, so he can focus on finishing the crosses. He is not the best player with ball on his feet, but he is really good in air and can be real threat in the opponent's box.

Btw, I'm watching his goal over and over again and I have to say it was really dangerous attempt. He could easily crash with Rui Patricio or with the post. Thankfully everything went well.

LCB who mastered cross, and RWB who mastered header. Perfect combination.

Why are the members here so critical. He joined near the end of the transfer window and has had to adapt to a new league, new role, and his teammates.

Considering his appearances, he never had a bad game. His only real mistake I can recall he made was giving the penalty to Juve, but those divers are always looking for a penalty.

He also has a physical aspect to his game, which can make him dominant once he develops in his role.

The manager also appears to rate him.

So why the premature hate.

Nobody hates Dumfries, dude. His touches are simply too painful to watch. Even worse than Lukaku I would say.

Conte football (couter, long balls) exploits speed and might be more suitable. Inzaghi possession forces him touching the balls too much and exposing his untrainable weaknesses.

Nah but I do kinda agree with Jusef here. Sure, some parts of Denzel's performances were frustrating, but it was nowhere near as bad as some here made it seem. It felt like people found their new scapegoat for the 21/22 season and they had their opinions fixed on him after a couple of games. I mean just look at how you casually declared his weaknesses to be "untrainable" lol.

Just surfing back this thread right before he came here. Some Dutch fans who have been following Dumfries for a long time did mention his touches and they said he hasn’t changed a bit.

And yeah, flair is something you can’t teach. A player can learn how to move better (e.g. Perisic), how to use his strength properly (e.g. Cancelo), but not touches. Even as much improving as Lukaku he always looks like a donkey trying to trap a balloon and always will be.

Btw I am more a Dumfries liker than his hater tbh. But I won’t ignore the facts just because I support one player.

I agree with his. This is how he impressed with Netherlands in Euro. The issue is we used to play a lot from the right with Hakimi-Barella-Lukaku triangle and we continue to do so with Darmian-Barella-Dzeko so we would have to adjust our style. The match against Roma was the first one i remember us playing so much from the left.

Am i the only one who didn't understand why he was replaced at half time ?
We were very dangerous in the right wing and it was mainly due to his physical presence there.

Yes vilnius was dangerous coming from that side but its not that you can blame that on Dumfries only. We were marking him with 3 people lol and he still managed to pass through some times.

Only thing that i could blame dumfries in the 1st half was that sometimes he used to get lost in the attacking play and forget to track back in a timely manner leaving us open on counter attacks.

Man of the first half. Despite limited technique, his one-touch flicks are surprisingly good.

I noticed it in the last match as well.

The more he gels with the team the more we will get out of him. He’s proven that he’s at the level for these matches. Now we need to see it against top opposition.

Can only say he filled Darmian’s shoes greatly. Impressed by how he decided to dribble past the goalkeeper instead of shooting it in the penalty play. I think that was smart.

Cagliari was dismal. But Dumfries rose up to the occasion. If anything that proves you'll only get nothing out of players like Dalbert (who is now a midfielder playing in Hakan's position thanks to Mazzarri...) Keep it up Dumfries. The goals and assists will come if you're patient.

Could have recorded 2 assists but the first one slightly ricocheted and our strikers got disoriented, the 2nd, well he earned penalty, but... ehh
overall a very good match, didn't notice any mistakes from him.
