Shaz that's a bit unfair Polly wasn't batting when they stuffed that up. He send out the paper to Boucher. Not his fault Boucher couldn't read.

Polly's math's ain't too bad. The only one in the current side who actually has a university degree. He has a degree in commerce. So he needed some maths to pass stat's.

But yeah it's sad to see all the star's I watched growing up going at the same time. Especially since so far I haven't seen any really great youngster taking their places.

I thought it was a known fact, that he told Boucher to block the last ball of the 45th over, and not play a shot on it, or get out?? Pollock misunderstood the duck worth system, as he had Srilanka's score in duck worth method with him. With all the duck worth bull, he failed to realise that to win S.Africa didnt needed to equal the lankan total, but infact had to exceed it.

Polly didn't say anything to boucher he gave him the list. But on the prinout the scores listed are the scores needed to tie. Boucher didn't read the top line which said add 1 for the winning total. Pollock tried to send someone out to tell boucher when he noticed he was screwing up but the umpires didn't allow boje onto the field to have the chat.

It was boucher who screwed up not Polly.

This was polly's version of events afterwards and I reckon I will believe him.

The other version which the SA coach at the time said was they weren't taking the rain in consideration and were ignoring the rain completely. Which is totally false because had that been the case they wouldn't have had the piece of paper.

Big blow for Australia. This guy was a big part why they won the wc.

Bowler physically and emotionally exhausted
Shaun Tait quits cricket indefinitely
Cricinfo staff
January 29, 2008

Shaun Tait has walked away from cricket indefinitely, citing physical and emotional exhaustion. Cricket Australia announced that Tait will be rested from all levels while he undergoes a programme to help him recuperate, and the length of it will be dependent on his progress.
"This is a very difficult situation for me to be in at this time, this is not an overnight decision but something that I've been struggling with for sometime," Tait said. "A break from professional cricket will hopefully give me a clear mind and a chance for my body to rest and recover.
"My love and enjoyment of the game is struggling due to these issues and if I continue to go on it will be unfair on my team-mates and support staff of both the Australian and South Australian cricket teams - and most importantly my family and close friends."
During an up-and-down past 12 months, Tait made his ODI debut, played a key role in Australia's World Cup triumph, finishing the tournament with 23 wickets, had elbow surgery, and returned to the Test team against India in Perth. However, he was nowhere near as destructive as Australia had hoped at the WACA and failed to claim any wickets.
Trefor James, Cricket Australia's chief medical officer, said: "After discussions with Shaun and the South Australian Cricket Association medical staff it is clear that Shaun needs a break from cricket at all levels. We'll be working with Shaun going forward to ensure that whatever assistance he requires is provided to him. Shaun's personal welfare is our primary concern as well as his return to cricket at an appropriate point."
The South Australian Cricket Association's medical officer, Terry Farquharson, said Tait felt he needed to get away from the game. "Shaun has experienced recurrent injuries dating back to 2005 with a shoulder injury requiring surgery, an elbow injury in 2007 also requiring surgery, which has caused him ongoing pain as well as suffering intermittent low back and hamstring injuries," Farquharson said.
"The combination of his injury history and the demands of being an elite professional cricketer has affected his physical, and significantly, his emotional well-being. Shaun feels he needs a rest from cricket, and I support this, which will allow him to recover both physically and emotionally."
Tait was expected to be a key part of Australia's CB Series squad after his World Cup success. However, his absence will leave Australia with an even more inexperienced attack, with Glenn McGrath already missing from the side that triumphed in the Caribbean.

terrible.

the only bowler in the world quicker then bret lee and with more reverse swing. always knew what he could do, finally saw it in the world cup and then bang..needs elbow surgery.

rumours were aorund the blokes here he was going through depression during that (had to miss all tests) then when he finally got back he did not look comfortable one bit, not even for one ball..

terrible news. hope he makes it through

Snubbed Simon Katich still hopeful of Test

January 26, 2008 11:00pm

EXILED Blues batsman Simon Katich insists his Test career is not over, despite another snub from the national selectors.

NSW cricket boss Dave Gilbert blasted the four-man panel of Andrew Hilditch, Merv Hughes, David Boon and Jamie Cox after the in-form Katich was overlooked for the Prime Minister's XI clash with Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

It was the latest selection blow for Katich, who leads this summer's first-class scoring with 878 runs at 109.75.

Once dubbed a future Test captain by Steve Waugh, Katich has not worn the baggy green since scoring a duck against the West Indies in November 2005.

But the NSW skipper refuses to believe he is on the outer with the selectors and is confident of adding to his 23 Tests.

"I haven't given up hope of playing Test cricket again and my performances reflect that," said Katich, who was stripped of his Cricket Australia contract last April.

"When I lost my (CA) contract, I could have easily said: 'Oh well, the selectors have gone down that path, they don't think I'm up to it'.

"But I haven't bought into that theory. I want to prove a point, I guess.

"It was nice to be spoken about for the Perth Test last week (when Chris Rogers replaced the injured Matthew Hayden) but I always felt Chris was going to be first cab off the rank.

"If Test cricket comes again, that's great, but if it doesn't then that's OK. Making a lot of runs for NSW has done wonders for me, I'm feeling really relaxed and confident."

Former Test skipper Bob Simpson, who has spent the past two years refining Katich's technique, is dismayed by the 32-year-old's fall from grace.

"At present it looks as though he's out of favour with the selectors. I have no idea why it's happened," Simpson said.

"It makes it very hard for him to play a role unless he wins a CA contract. His Test record is quite good but they (selectors) seemed to have lost faith in him.

"Simon certainly has done enough to warrant another contract, I would have thought. I was very surprised he wasn't given a chance in the Perth Test because he's a Perth fella and he knows the wicket over there."

He said "teri maa ki" atleast that is what is being reported in all the freaking "official" reports. The fact is I dont think Harbhajan is that smart enough to call Symonds or even a monkey, a monkey. :D

The words he said literally mean "your mothers..." very common words in India, you might hear it on every single street you go. Symonds probably misheard it and Haydos too.

The sad part is the Aussie players still think Symonds was racially abused. He was verbally abused and we all know if we file a complaint for each time a Aussie player abused then......

quick question. How the f-uck are these teams have so much money???

I do predict this tournament to be a huge flop though. Pretty sure, despite trying to an EPL on dumb suppoters all around the world, no one outside of India would watch it.

Business men in india bought the teams. One team is owned by a consortium with one of the members being a big hollywood star.

If enough people in India watches it it doesn't really matter if nobody else watches since it will be a success since india have enough people to make it profitable.

But a lot of people here in SA are really looking forward to this tournament so I am sure it will take of overseas as well.

With the amount of star power there's no way it can fail.

Yeah I meant bollywood.

On the english players. Apparently they get paid enough in country and this will clash with their county games.

I think they just know they would get out classed by the world player so they rather play against the mediocre county players.

But I am sure KP is pissed that he couldn't get the change to see how much he is worth. He is probably the only english guy the franchises would have wanted.

I am not sure how big a success it would be. Non-international has never pulled crowd here...though this is international...it may just survive...nothing overwhelming

Richest and most Shrewdest people of India like the Ambani Brothers,TATA guyz,Sharukh Khan have invested in it.Morover people are crazy over cricket here and Advertisers more crazy.
IPL has the support of BCCI unlike ICL which means the venues are gonna be spread across the country.
Cant bet against its success.

I think the tour has gathered some pace in the past couple of days. Before that i gave it no chance. I think itd be an awesome series.

as for IPL, good to see we get every game broadcasted live. Dhoni most played player is a joke. It makes me sick, the guys been crap here. Actually ill re phrase that, his been good, but very slow. Symo, Punter, Huss (only earn 4!!) Gibbs are more useful.

And not to mention whos the better wicket keeper/batter, gilly ;)

Dhoni is the mast marketable player in India that's why he got the most money.

The real shocker is Kallis getting the most for any SA player. a Man considered not to be a 20/20 player by the SA selectors getting $900 000.
