Just wanted to drop this somewhere, a general observation I’ve brought up a few times here.

We sorely lack athleticism in our squad. In the back line especially. Bastoni is probably the best athlete and that’s only because he’s like 21. De Vrij slow and clumsy and D’Ambrosio runs like he’s in mud. 3rd goal is due to D’Ambrosio getting burnt on the wing. The winning goal in the Derby came from the same situation. If we are going to keep Conte and this formation we need athletes, that seems to be the biggest pre-requisite to success in this system, not being a great footballer.

Agreed. You can actually see how important athleticism is in the Atalanta - Liverpool game. Atalanta had 3 slow CBs in Djimsiti (slow), Toloi (slow and old), and Palomino (not as slow as the others, but not fast and also clumsy) vs. 3 speedy players in Salah, Mane, and Jota.

Those 3 would have destroyed our backline as well.

It's not over yet. We are extremely fortunate that at least in Serie A, the competition is weak, inconsistent, and shit. All it takes is a little momentum and our talent will be enough to power through.

We are not competing against Allegri's Juve machine, or Sarri's Napoli machine, or even Rudi Garcia's/Spallo's Roma team.

Fucking BBilan is top of the league. That's how shit serie A is.
