Yeah I gotta say hell no to AWB. Struggles positionally and offers nothing in attack. To me there’s three options. We overpay for DD given how few RWB there are, sign a Di Lorenzo who can be deputized similar to Darmian, or we go ultra cheap and just rip Buchanan at RWB.

AWB is a worse option that Di Lorenzo and will probably cost similar. He’s a mid table RB in a system that deploys a winger in front of him. He is so poor offensively teams will collapse the pitch on our left flank and make it more difficult on Dimarco. Say what you want about Dumfries being subpar attacking but he is a wicked option on the far post for crosses and keeps defenses honest.

I kinda liked Bijol when is saw him. Would be a good gamble when the price is low. Buongiorno is still my preffered choise, although expensive.

If you want to use the bbilan argument Red Bird allowed them to sign both Ibra & Giroud , hardly spring chickens on small wages.

People complaining about Di Lorenzo are the same ones who will be crying when we sign Wan-Bissaka. Even worse crying when they see him play football.

Wan-bissaka being even worse doesn't mean we should be happy with either.

I thought then as I think now that the club should have paid the 7m euros it would have taken to sign Bellanova. I thought that he showed more in his loan season than Asllani did and certainly enough promise to justify that modest fee - a fee they then paid anyway 6 months later for a slightly older player who arrived as more of a gamble.

Both would make me an unhappy as neither can fill the rwb role adequately...

Di Lorenzo is a champion and a Serie A veteran. I will live if he is the replacement for Dumfries. Wan Bissaka is simply not a very good player. If he is a RB in a back four hes a mid table player. If he is an attacking wingback he is a relegation level player. The more this drags, the more id rather just cave and give Dumfries what he wants. If you think DD is a mediocre player, I urge you to watch AWB. He has one positive trait. Slide tackling. he is awful to average at everything else.

Dumfries to United doesn’t make much sense to me outside of the Dutch connection. Dalot was very good and assuming Shaw returns healthy Dalot will be their full time RB.

Yes, you might as well ask why Casemiro would leave Real Madrid to join Man United when all he got in return was a 50% pay rise and a lengthy 4 year contract to go with it. For foreign players Man United is simply a more palatable Saudi Arabia.

No, unfortunately if we dont sacrifice we cannot make any significant transfer. You guys forget we havent paid ~40m loan for Augusto Frattesi and Arnautovic yet. Our kids are being sold for that.

Dumfries sell isnt enough for his replacement alone, if any.
