Come on now. We all know the main reason we are signing Zielinski and particularly Taremi is because they are bosman transfers. They are cheap opportunities to get a quality player, atleast in Zielinskis case.

The notion that a player like Taremi's characteristics should somehow be missing pieces of a puzzle to make Inters teamwork reach a new stratosphere of performance is hilarious at best.
No one has claimed that.

And we were targeting Taremi already last summer. Being free is a key component in these type of transfers but it's not like we are targeting every free agent.

For example Martial is someone I'd be skeptical signing, specially given his injury history.

We're targeting valuable players that have an expiring contract. This enables:
- Inter negotiating a lower transfer fee with the club 1 year before (think Pavard)
- Letting the player know Inter are interested
- If they don't budge (Porto with Taremi), we just sign him for free

We were already after Taremi last year but I believe Porto asked for a huge fee. Bosman is a situation that we're taking advantage of. It's not the main reason why we're getting them. We're getting these players in particular because they fit a role in Inzaghi's system in combination with being affordable. It's not like we're settling for second-rated players because they're on bosman.

No need spend money for backup striker. Martial is the guy we need.

Did you google Martial salary? He needs to reduce 70% of his current to justify a backup role. Not gonna happen.
3-4 mil top. Not happening.

They wanted 20m for him, which was obviously an absurd fee for a low quality player. So we paid 12m for Arnautovic instead. You will never convince me that the management thought that highly of Taremi, but switched to Arnautovic over 8 million if they really thought he would "be the missing piece of the puzzle" as you said.

As far as Zielinski goes, i agree. Taremi i would argue is a second rate player at best that we would never go for in any normal economic circumstance. We are signing Taremi mainly because he is on a bosman and that Arnautovic and Sanchez have been hot garbage. The club is desperate for cheap sub forwards and rightly so.

Not that i want Martial, but whatever salary he is on right now is completely irrelevant.

He is out of work on june 30 this year, he is in no position to reject offers based on current salary, as he will soon have no salary at all.

No club is going to offer him even 50% of current salary considering he has been dog since 19/20.

I didn't say that Taremi specifically is the missing piece of the puzzle. I've implied that he's one of the missing pieces (in addition to Zielinski, Gudmundsson etc). Taremi could be an option off the bench for all I care but he'll still be one of the missing pieces that Inzaghi badly needed against Atletico.

Btw I don't even like Taremi, but I'm trusting Inter's management based on what I've seen in the past two years. Their well planned work specially in the transfers windows has put Inter light years a head of everyone in Italy despite not having the financial resources. This wasn't because of some calciopoli or not having real competitors like in 2010s. I'd say that there's a high chance that Taremi will work fine just like the others and I'm not even a fan of him. I'll be glad if he surprises everyone like Acerbi, Darmian, Thuram, Onana etc have done.

That’s Martinez (if we can keep him), but please point me towards an attacker that score the same as him that is actually attainable, Because I know you can’t mention one.

Your not realistic getting one with our budget, certainly not as a third option.

It’s almost cut in stone who is our starters if we can keep both, the wage those two receive simply means they are meant as starters. With whatever wage can be offered simply put an obstacle of the quality you can get, besides there no budget to buy one unless you sell one of the two.

We are currently talking about sacrificing yet another of our great talent for a mediocre player…
Stuani from Girona is better poacher than Arnatunovic, just an example of a finished player who would probably score more goals than him.

Arnautovic price was 4m loan + 4m redemption + 2m bonus. Not 12m permanent transfer immediately, let alone over 20m what Porto wanted. Big difference.

There were rumors that we had offered 23mln for Taremi, which Porto declined in the summer. I think something like that was our limit, as our offer for Scamacca was around 24mln as well.

Right. So what did Martial do to get transferred to a better team?

I mean Martial's employers are declining their option to extend his contract by 1 year 🤔

Marotta patiently got rid of all problematic figures from the dressing room, one by one. I highly doubt he will pick this guy.

haha Pinamonti has almost as many goals as Thuram and Lukaku by 1 goal :)

Duvan Zapata has 12. Other than Lautaro most strikers haven't scored much this season. So not like we can just raid a smaller team for their striker.

I think we should open a Gudmundsson thread. All the signs to point to that we're seriously trying to get him.

I'm admittedly skeptical, but Ausilio seems obsessed and he usually doesn't miss when we gets his first choice (although not always).
