In honor of Inter being linked to so many Argentinian players, I am proposing this lineup:

--------------Milito--------------
---Tevez-------------Palacio----
------------Alvarez-------------
-------Banega----Gago---------
Zabaleta-----------------Zanetti
------Samuel------Chuchu------
--------Abbondanzieri-----------

(Please note that it also requires us to fire Gasperini and hire Diego Maradona as our coach ;))

I'm not a fan of a back three, nor a midfield three, nor an attacking three. I like strong back four, coupled with a stonewall midfield, a creative midfielder and a striker. To me, Inter does not have the players to play a 3-4-3 or a 4-3-3. The idea of a 4-2-3-1 is always ever present in our minds, but it has not been as successful in Italy as the 4-3-1-2 has been for Inter. Although Inter have added players to make the squad a more possession based attack that is seen from many successful teams, I thing Inter is still best suited to play a strong defense with an attack based on swift counter attacks. To me, these 3-4-3 and 4-3-3 formations are placing some of the best players out of their best positions, and even making some players unusable.

A 4-3-1-2 is the formation I want to see Inter utilize not because it has brought success, but the players are built for it. Cuchu to anchor the DM role, Sneijder to provide the passes for a counter attack, Eto'o and Pazzini to hold up play, and Wingbacks to make counter attacking runs. The most necessary component would be a CM with good defensive ability, but more importantly the passes for linkup play.

Banega and Casemiro are the best bets for that role since Motta is cosistently injured and Obi is still young. To play those other formations would need the purchase of another winger and atleast two quality CMs. These other formations would also push Eto'o farther away from the box, put a ton of strain on a paceless MF, and push for a possibility of selling (arguably) the worlds best AM.

Does Inter make the change to a new formation with new players? Will there be success or failure? The cost of failure could be losing the best player and spending money on players for a formation that was unsuccessful. By no means am I doubting Gasp's ability to be a tactician, I'm in fear of a Benitez situation where the players are forced into roles.

My idea formation would be a 4-3-1-2 with: JC; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Zanetti; Cuchu, Motta, Obi; Sneijder; Eto'o, Pazzini. Obviously a signing of Banega or similar would push an Obi or Motta to the bench or Naga could play LB. Some of you will argue that Inter are not moving ahead in terms of football tactics, playing an older style of counter attacking football. But I rebut with the current players are suited for that style, and that style can still be successful (even in Europe) with the right players.

I'm not giving up on 3-4-3 yet... It's easy to say that it doesn't work after a couple of matches and realistically speaking you are right about us not having the players but I have to be honest and say that I hope it actually becomes successfull and effective... It'll be nice to see a new style to Inter especially if they can pull off this offensive style of football. Plus the mercato isn't finished yet... I predict 2 more midfielders to join us... We always have our more comfortable formations to fall back on.

haha I rather have Costa Ricas defense then Argentina's that um doesn't understand what defending means.

As for the team other than Zanetti none of them are good enough for Inter
