Rodrigo Lasmar, the Brazil team doctor, said: “This news is not easy but he will not be available for the rest of the World Cup. Neymar has a broken vertebra. He will be out for four to six weeks.”

Thankfully it didn't damage his nervous system.

I hope that's true, I heard it from a doctor on ESPN that this kind of injuries take at least 6-8 weeks to recover, but then one must wait another 4 weeks at least to be able to play professionaly.

Wow I see. If Barca buy Suarez, its only going to be Messi for the first few months!

Just a random question: Does anybody have any data on Fred. Especially his covered distance is what I want. How much distance does he cover in comparison to other Brazilians and to other teams. He's always standing that's why I'd like to know.

David Luiz may not be everyone’s cup of tea due to his rough-house, physical play, but the former Chelsea defender won back a few friends last night with a brilliant show of fraternity and sportsmanship with James Rodriguez.

After the game, which Brazil won largely due to their rattling of Colombia’s James Rodriguez, David Luiz was straight over to Ham-ez to console him.

Luiz pointed to him, telling the crowd that he was the best player on the pitch, and the pair swapped shirts.

Afterwards, the pair did an interview together arm in arm.

Luiz told the interviewer:

‘It’s not only the ones with the trophies who are the great champions.

James has been brilliant, making great plays, scoring great goals, and he can leave here with his head held high, because he’s already a World Champion for everything he’s done at this World Cup.

James thanked Luiz, saying:

‘Playes like him, Dani Alves, coming to talk to me, that made me very happy, so personally, thank you.

I was reading on Neymar's injury and I don't really know which of his vertbrae is broken but apparently if the blow was a bit higher it could've paralyzed him.

That's just not cool!

It was the third.

In Zuniga's defence, that kind of clashes is seen in every match, it doesn't mean it was with intent. Knee-to-head on Pereira could have killed him as well. Chivu could have died in the head-to-head colission.
It's the bad side of this sport but one which every player is aware of.

Zuniga should have been booked in the 45th for his high tackle on Hulk, which halted a counter attack. He was able to go free by the referee without a yellow to worry about, and make a challenge in the 2nd half that ended the World Cup for Neymar. Brazil started by hard tackles on James, than Colombia started going in harder on Neymar. However, ref created an atmosphere where players felt like they could foul with complete immunity.

Zuniga's tackle was reckless, but there was certainly not intent to physically harm Neymar. Tackles or collisions like that happen more often on the field than people realize, especially during set pieces or goal kicks.

So I did some research on covered distance. It's pretty easy to find. You can find pretty much all statistics on the website of FIFA. So about Fred now. He played 5 Matches and in those he played 402 minutes. In that time he covered a total distance of 40.3 km. Now to compare him with other strikers. Müller covered an astonishing amount of 57.4 km in 472 minutes. Benzema covered 47.4 km in 450 minutes. Messi that lazy ass covered 41.4 km in 453 minutes. Cavani covered 42.7 km in 360 minutes.

Soo my question is, if this is really possible? I mean Fred just stands around all day. His covered distance isn't high, but i expected it to be much lower. And what the hell is wrong with Messi, he's the Captain he just can't be a fucking lazy asshole.
