I had to put my dog down this week. Was really tough. He was only 7 but he ate something and it go stuck in his stomach. He puked a few times over 2 days. When I took him to the vet his back legs no longer worked. They said he was having heart issues and was dyhadrated.

Get pet insurance the bill was going to be 15k if they didnt have to cut into him and 18k if they did. They also said because of how dehydrated he was that he most likely wouldn't make it. If he did in 3-4 days he might need another surgery because of an infection that could happen that we would have to pay 70% of that bill as well.

Crazy last week started off so well I got my wife her dream kitchen table off Facebook market place for a steal. a 5k table for $600 with chairs. Then the next day was our anniversary. Then 2 days later my dog got so sick we had to put him down.

Worst part was really couldn't cry or do anything to save him. Then when it was time it was my decision go in debt or save my kids and my best friend. Everyone cried and had to be strong. Love your pets and teach them the "leave it command". I sadly was not a great pet owner. He was my best friend and thats how I treated him. Like my lazy, broke friend who wouldn't leave my side.

So i am having a really shitty day and felt like sharing. Wildfire smoke very close to my house and we were instructed to evacuate. I am safe at a friend's house now. They officially say now fire is under control but area is still blocked. What a day.

Patra?

What a shitfest we have every summer with these fires... it seems like 70% of them aren't even accidental or due to weather conditions.

Hope all gets resolved soon!

Hope everything settled down now but these wildfires every year is getting ridiculious. Maybe a stupid question but you would think by now they have some things prepared to keep these things under control?

I'm living in a country where the summer is just the same raining days as all the other days/seasons but with just slightly higher temperatures so I know nothing.

Thank you mate. Yeah. Thankfully fire didn't reach my house. Smell was horrible in the first days but apart from that things went back to normal. Ecological disaster of course. As a naturalist who's also into hiking it was painful to see a beautiful forest getting burned.

It's the same bullshit every summer man. They always say they have made best preparation possible, they're well equipped, they even got drones to monitor wildfires and once summer starts the same shit again. Half of the country is getting burned and people houses are at risk every summer. And they just blame climate change for everything.

Considering this is 10th straight day (could be more) of 40 C (sorry Americans but i don't remember Fahrenheit equivalent :D) i would gladly take Netherlands summer right now. Maybe it's time to visit Amsterdham again :D

Got stranded in Germany because our flight got cancelled because of the global IT problem.
Now most probably got to book a bus which will take about 10 hours to get home.

We've had some pretty bad fires here over the years and they're never really able to get on top of things early enough.

All because of one little Crowdstrike update. The problem is that it's probably not real easy to push out a fix to machines that are shitting themselves during startup, even if that fix is just to delete a file.

Basically anything above 32 C should be understood as basically burning to any American. The conversion from C -> F is [C] * 1.8 and then add 32 to that number...32 C is almost 90 F. 40 = 104, so there you go.

Climate change is, of course, responsible for all of this. Whether there's any steps being taken by Greek government or business to do their part in trying to reduce harmful environmental practices is, I guess, another matter. We're getting 40 F summers here in Florida and yet the governor is such a sensitive little shitstain that he's forcing public school textbooks used in schools to not use the words "climate change". Because, you know, if you pretend something isn't a problem then that means it isn't a problem anymore.

It's been between 33 and 39C here for 10 days, aside from a 2-hour rain window that happened once.
Last week, I did my motorcycle riding exam in 37 degrees at 2 PM. The heat from the motorcycle, the pavement, the helmet on the head, I've spent the rest of the day rehydrating and laying down :D
