Yea but they've knocked out Liverpool who was dominating EPL and won CL the previous year. I'm just saying that Atletico is no scrub, even Liverpool who was flushed with cash and had continuity for years lost against this team too.

Absolutely. Clubs hate drawing them because of their style. But let's not make them something they're not. After their second CL final they have declined a lot. Two group stage eliminations, and eliminations in KO from Juve, Leipzig and Chelsea.

They're not a top 5 team. Not anymore. Last time they made it past quarterfinals was in 2017. That's 7 years ago.
I feel if you take everything into account they are a top 5 side during the decade.

Real, Bayern, Barcelona, City are ahead. I'm not even that sure on Barcelona but at least they won one.

PSG, Chelsea, Juventus and Liverpool are their competition for that 5th spot but they were all streaky. Atletico as well, but they were a constant for a longer time.

If I have time later I'll do a check on this.

Last season we were in a group of death. Not sure how it is "far easier' than Conte's last position against Real, Monchengladbach and Shakhtar
Barcelona isn't as strong as it used to be with Messi in the team, plus the controversial decision by the ref

What? I ll give you the coach but in terms of players jz was surrounded by way better players than lauti it s not even close... dude played with r9 zlatan adriano crespo baggio compare that to lauti..

Also get the fuck out with that conte comparision dude got massive investments and way bigger names... we cannot simply ignore that most of the plqyers we consider great now we re not great when we sogned them for inzaghi
Yes, but the likes of R9, Adriano, Baggio also didn't have a Mourinho kind of coach.

All I'm saying that the 2010 team was stronger mentally. They wanted to win the big cup. This team crumbled in Madrid.

Hopefully they learned from this experience.

I beg to differ. The 2010 team had by faaar better players as individuals. This team is still mentally unbelievable. They play, win and lose like champions despite having way waaay less individual qualities. Our exits are extremely narrow and we're giving the oppositions the fight of their life. We just have less individuals and those details make the difference in the CL. Lautaro isn't Milito and Thuram isn't Eto'o. But as a team this is the best Inter version I've seen.

Inzaghi to me has already surpassed Conte and Mancini in every way possible with less resources. If he had someone like Julio Cruz on the bench instead of Arnautovic then Atletico would've already been burried early in Meazza.

In the same time frame you speak of, Liverpool and Atleti both have two appearances in the Final where they lost to Real Madrid, except Liverpool has a third appearance in which they won whereas Atleti has no third appearance and have won the competition zero times. (Of course they came mighty close both times against Real, but that's zero consolation.) I don't see any way you could give Atleti a higher ranking than Liverpool other than that Atleti have been in the competition every season in that time frame whereas Liverpool have missed a couple of seasons. (Atleti did win the 2018 Europa League but in a conversation about the Champions League that should be entirely irrelevant.)

But this is entirely nitpicking in any case. If they're not a "Top 5 side" in Europe in the last decade, then they're #6. It's not like there's a massive chasm from #5 to #6 so who really cares.

Yeah you get the gist of it.

Liverpool is a good example but they did miss several seasons in the last 10.

3 EL seasons.
2 with no Europe at all
And they get KOd in R16 when they don't reach the final, which is crazy coz it's like 3 finals and 2 last16 exits.

So their peak is impressive but I wouldn't take a 10 year snapshot and put them at the top.

we will make around 40M less from last year from the UCL, but the Fifa club cup will save us, as that pays around 50M.
Then we don't have to sell anybody, unless Dumfries wants out.

I've read that is something around 50-60mln, which is not bad. I think we shall get around 50mln at least from World Club Cup as well.
Ok. We definitely won't sell anybody.

I have a feeling Lautaro will be sold if they can milk 100m.
Last year we sold Brozo + Onana and we invested pretty much all the funds in Frattesi, Pavard, Augusto, Arnautovici, Bisseck.
With 100m don Beppe could bring a Zirkzee plus another Augusto and Bisseck (the same profile like age, value).
So my friend we could have a bench of Bisseck, Augusto, Buchanan, Asllani, Zielinski, Taremi and those 2 with Lautaro`s money. If Asllani, Bisseck and Buchanon make a step forward in the development, if the new acquisitions are as good as Augusto and Bisseck this year, then we have a real fucking deep roster.

If we sell Toro, we are mid table team. And Lautaro feels good at Inter and he is a Captain. Where he woul go? England is not a good fit for him, Real and Barca have forwards. Maybe PSG if Mbappe leaves. I think, Lautaro will extend his contract here.

dont care where he goes. He isn't on my NT if he leaves the club. We need money if we get a Lukaku type offer then do it. I just dont see who would want or need him + has the money. He isn't going to leave us to go to Tottenham or Newcastle. Would he be cool not having champions at Man U or Chelsea but a bigger pay day. Could we fk over those 2 teams again :)

So, you care about your NT more than Inter?:)

if he isn't on one of the NTs I support or at the club I like wtf do I care about the player. Mbappe is great but never going to play for any of the NTs I support nor at the club I support so give 0 shits about the player

By that logic we were not a top 5 team last year in the ucl...
Alsso what if they reach the final this year can we then consider them a top team and is it okay to lose to them on pens?
Again not happy about the defeat but people act like we lost to porto/ arsenal or some other smalish team

Topic of my discussion with Brehme was about 10 year span, not a single year.

Also i literally said this:

Problem is Atletico aren't Porto. While we were saved by post in Portugal Spaniards had the quality to punish our lack of concentration in those moments.

He feels good and want 10 salary (which I am against). Let`s see if he feels good with 7m + bonuses?
And we won`t be a midtable team. Not at all, if we replace him with someone competent (Zirkzee).

I just don`t give a fuck if Lautaro stays or not. I would be happy to stay, but if that imply a salary of 10m and probably not be able to upgrade the roster, no thank you.
Don`t forget we are still bleeding money year after year.

How much Brozo was making?
