SE SALTELLI....
Exactly we need to stop making excuses for him now. Assp has played him in the middle where has failed and done nothing, and then he plays on the wing where he also fails and becomes nothing. Where do we play him next Blackmore? Striker? For fucks sake, we need to stop the mommy coddling here, why are you the dead last person on the forum to open your eyes about well....anything....

hes played 1 game as a CM....and hes failed miserably?

and just for your info, i was the first one to comment about the after effects of selling eto'o and was bashed constantly for a good week because i said MM settled for selling him......a week later it was found out that he hadnt asked for a pay raise, and that MM had sold him off due to economic conditions.

so dont come here with your made up stories...if you can find me a time when im the last to realise anything, show me! the only thing i realised late, which everyone was saying was that your bi polar(coming from a mod too might i add), and that you continually talk through your ass. well maybe thats what your talking about that im late on?

dude ive seen ppl like you come and go, dont worry aint no biggie for me ;)

i love your logic of how a player gets one game before being judged a failure or not....just amazing! and you call gasperini an ass?

After what we have seen so far him i can make 2 kind of judgements:

1-The scouting staff/board
Has failed with him . When they signed Alvarez they thought he was a player who could be our next Robben and replace Sneijder/Eto'o depending how mercato would go .
Well now it's evident that he can't be Robben and for sure he can't play in the wing (the position he's bought for) no matter if it's a 343 , 433 , xxx.

2-The manager
Now everything it's up to the manager. Maybe Alvarez is not a winger but for sure he is a quality player whatsoever. He clearly has technique , vision , dribling skills and off ball movement. It's not that he is the first slow football player in the history of the game and there is no reason why he shouldn't be a good player because of that . So the manager has to work with him and find the most suitable position . Every time he has played he has improved our link up play and the combinations with his teammates have been good so i don't see any reason why a team with creativity problems in midfield such as ours shouldn't profit of him.

Assp' has given Ricky free reign to play multiples positions as I have posted previously. He has played as a Right Central Midfielder, he has played as a Left Central Midfielder and then he has been played on the wing. He has been nothing short of a calamity...

What about Vs Palermo...he looked really good there.

It really is all about how he is utilised. I sure have not given up on him yet.

Define "really good" An... If you mean really good as like when you are drunk off Baileys and you bring up some vomit in your mouth and you swallow it back and its not really as terrible as it could be "good"?

Enough of your bullshit...it stops here. In 20 plus minutes of football the kid gave away the ball ONCE! Can you beleive that....on his serie a debut, FUCKING ONCE! He showed great work ethic, tracked back on numerous occasions, and was instrumental in starting many of our attacks when dropping deep into the CM spot. This guy had a rough night last night, but who didnt? Now you can keep on talking all the trash you want about this kid, but youre just showing your stupididty here. Ive seen many a "fan" like you on here before...trashing players for NO APPARENT REASON. Just stop it! If indeed he turns out to be crap after a certain amount of time so be it, but to condemn him after just one performance....well all i can say is thank you for showing everyone at this forum not to EVER take you seriously.

LADIES N GENTS.....I PRESENT MARAVILLA!

You call this a terrible performance? Sorry the only terrible performance around here is you acting as an inter fan!

Are you kidding Black? I watched the game LIVE on Sunday, I saw him stink from his introduction, he is a useless passive player. Nothing he does is incisive, every game for him is a training knock about...

He is as threatening as a toddler trying to assemble a dismantled rifle, that WAS a terrible performance, tell me what did he bring to the game? To even remotely turn it around for us? Tell me?

Looking back at the poll. The only two forum members that could spot we had a stinker on our hands without going totally overboard was none other than Nerazzurri4life :palm: ( God and I hate to agree with N4L ) and Seyyedo. I was sucked into the hype too, but I'm done with him. You guys can have him.

WTF Guys, you waited Quaresma like 1-2 years, and he barely played good in one match... And your bashing a young guy, with future, who came from a TOTALLY different league, to SERIE A, WHICH IS HARDEST LEAGUE GUYS. You expected him to be Maradona or something, for bashing him like that? I would understand bashing a player who came with BIG expectations and plays bad (Ex. Quaresma, Mancini, Suazo) But not Ricky.
I knew his first season, he won't at his best because he needs time to settle and I'm sure he won't be a boom this season, but give him fucking time.

With all the respect, some guys here are annoying.

Wtf are you even on about? I watched the game LIVE (fail to see how this is important as opposed to later in the day...?) and I saw Alvarez make a difference in our midfield. Maybe it wasn't an awe-inspiring 20 minutes but it certainly wasn't even close to a 'terrible performance' like you're suggesting. He's one of the very few in our current crop of midfielders who knows how to pass/dribble the ball forward rather than side-to-side like JZ and Cambiasso frequently do. You act like he was personally responsible for Inter losing.

With Motta out, Alvarez becomes the only CM who passes the ball forward. That is unless you guys want to watch Cambiasso and Zanetti play it backwards the who match.

lol maravilla alvarez :yao:
we spent 12 mill for a player that can pass? inter players, no, any football player should be able to pass. he's not bad per se... but he's no fucking miracle either. in fact, so far he's only been mediocre.

Alvarez definitely has shown he can play in CM, both in Milan derby and Palermo. I don't think he's been *just* mediocre there, and is definitely better than many other CM's we've got and different from the rest (excluding the injured Poli, as I haven't watched him at all).

The only questionable things that I have in my mind now are his defensive ability and work rate. The prior isn't really too much of a problem as he showed he can track back and win the ball back, definitely sufficient for a 3-men midfield, though the latter could be more of a problem as he has yet to play a full game in such role.

You have to consider the circumstances though. When he did track back and win the ball, it was when we were all flooding forward and the opponent (Palermo) didn't have many guys going forward because they didn't want to compromise their lead by attacking. Based on this we can't really say he has a good work rate or tracks back much because when we are throwing men forward to save some embarrassment from losing 4-2 is different to the tension of a balanced match, or at least a match where the scoreline is more delicate.

I don't think he's shown much in any position that he's played. In no way am I giving up on him considering he's only played 3 matches, but as we know on the wing, he's dreadful. I'm being dead serious when I say I would prefer Pandev, Biabiany or Quaresma on the wing based on what I've seen from Alvarez on the wing. In the CM spot, he's been better, but he always seems to lack energy. He's got a languid style and he's tall and lanky, and to me he seems to lack tenacity required to be a good CM. He's got flair and skills, but I haven't seen enough of him to be impressed by anything else.

It was 2-2, and Palermo was still going forward, just that their strategy during that time was to use counter attack to beat our high line. A lot of smaller teams play like that against us, I don't see why the Palermo match can't be used as a measurement.

Of course, 15 minutes in Palermo game is no way in hell enough to justify his suitability in CM. But so far his performance in CM is definitely acceptable enough that we can try it out again in future games, the same can't really be said for playing him on the wing.

60mins in a CM role and you guys will be wetting your pants. He is no miracle, but he has the ability to solve our midfield conundrum. He can give that balance that Gasp is talking about. He is not just able to pass, but he has a 10x better shot than Motta, 10x better dribbling ability and 10x less brain farts.

What Ricky needs is some backing from his coach and a little experience so that his nerves are gone.

So is there a reason our most expensive signing (and yes I know it's sad) of the summer wasn't even called up against Roma but Muntari was?

Because we would be way too unbalanced with him, Zanetti & Cambiasso. Who would defend? :eek:blivious:
