Nah I will lose it if we redeem him. He’s absolutely not good enough.

What impressed me the most yesterday was this dude was not a bit nervous.
He also got us 2 corners and pinned back 2 man city players before passing the ball to Brozo which lead to Lukaku's header.
He played way better than G5 can do for us.
Kudos to Inzaghi for even daring to sub him in.

I was dead set on not redeeming him, but honestly I thought he did okay when he featured more toward the end of the season. His redemption fee is still a bit high but I wouldn’t be completely against it if we took up the option. He has good physical characteristics and I think we could probably recoup that fee or turn a profit at some point if we wanted to do so.

With a little tweaks, he can't be no worse that Denzel. Improve his crossing, he has the speed.

Bellanova is far inferior to Denzel. I'm not going to fool myself and think that he could be a competent RWB for this team just because he is fast. The guy lacks brain, like big time.

If Darmian stays primary as a RCB, we'll need a back up wingback. Raul grew a bit at the end of season, and the clause is not so high. Maybe, we can replace him with a free agent, like Singo. But, the free agents demand higher salary. I like Mazzocchi from Salernitana, but he will be definitely more expensive.
Anyway, Bellanova is still 23 years old. He can turn to another DD/Darmian type of player, which is not a disaster by any means.

I would not call him far inferior.

Italian plus we can loan him later to Cagliari or any other club then we can call him back and play him like Dimarco.

What Bellanova needs to do to be better than Dumfries is positioning, tackling and other defensive abilities that need to be sharpened. Not sure if I see it happening.

But in attack he isn't that far from Dumfries, maybe just the balls to make more daring runs into the box is truly missing.

If Bellanova is brought and Dumfries is sold, I still believe somebody else will be brought as a starter. I don't see Bellanova being a starter in 2023/24 season.

I was hoping Pavard would come as the primary RCB, so that Bellanova and Darmian would alternate between themselves, but that's probably not happening.

All these options from Italian clubs are masked obligations for FFP purposes. His redemption was never in doubt.

He can be useful in certain matches when opponent sits deep and we need to attack but he needs to improve a LOT in order to challenge for a starting position whether his competition is Dumfries or someone else.

I still feel like there is a player in there or at least the raw tools to build one.

after seeing him a few times I agree..

There's a saying in NBA, you can't teach height, for fullback equivalent would be, you can't teach speed. The guy has immense potential, and if he works on some of his aspects of his game, and right mindset, he can become worldclass, all raw potential is there.
