I just watched Morbius and it is a shitty movie just like Venom...but there is something i don't understand ! Why does Sony persistently portray evil characters as GOOD GUYS ? Who will be the villain at the end of the story ? Spider Man ! ! ! :yao:

Anti heroes are popular. I think Venom became an Anti hero pretty early on since he was so popular. Morbuis was more a tragic hero and isn't a bad guy in the comics....

Kraven.... yea I don't know how they make Kraven a good guy or a animal lover. I am more shocked they decided to make a Madamme Webb movie before making a Spider Gwen or Miles movie

The current imdb score of Barbarian is 7.3 which is called the best horror movie of 2022 ( I'm still laughing at this even though it's a bad joke )

After watching the movie, I came to a clear decision about two things.

1- The new generation has no any fucking idea what a good horror movie is.
2- The new generation should go back to instagram and tiktok instead of watching movies.

The generational difference is real. Had a big family reunion last year and a ton of kids running around and we always do one movie a night for the kids but every one of them had issues with this or that, all informed and knowledgeable about this or that and for whatever reason nobody could agree on what to watch. Just really strange to me that we had like six different groups watching different movies instead of just agreeing on one and some of them sucking it up and maybe enjoying it.

I came away amazed by the sensitivity of all of them about everything. But whatever. So the adults got drunk and queued up some 80s horror flicks. Well most of us. And at least a few of my nephews showed some taste and watched them with us. First one btw was Phantasm, boy that one scared me when I was a kid.

My favorite anti-hero growing up was Elric of Melnibone. He was the last of a race of sorcerer kings and he required drugs to sustain his strength, until he found the runeblade that drank souls to feed his tender constitution. Still surprised he hasn't hit the big screen yet. The writer wasn't the greatest in his prose but the characters and story were fantastic.

Just realized I'm the nerd mentioning a book character in a movie thread. Dammit.

Was never really a big fan of Venom. Morbius was ok but I wished they had sorted his powers differently. Seems like nowadays though anti-heroes are a bit overdone. It's like every hero must be tortured which I think is silly. If I could fly around and kick ass I wouldn't be moping about it.

Mentioning Elric reminds me that Sapkowski copied his design for Geralt of Rivia a.k.a. Witcher. So somehow, he already has a tv show and a gaming franchise

the real event being a bear eating some cocaine and dying...

From google:
The film is inspired by the real story of a 175-pound (79 kg) American black bear that died after ingesting a duffel bag full of cocaine in December 1985

very fucken far fetched to call it inspired by real events

Im gonna be honest, i aint even gonna see the trailer. I heard about it that it was inspired by a real even but i didn't look into it. That it actually got made into a movie is mind-blowing but doesn't surprise me. Its almost 2023, apparently anything goes.

its not really based on real events - the real event of a bear eating a shitload of cocaine was real, but afaik basically none of the events in the movie actually happened

Is there any site where you can track new movie releases? I used to use the hasitleaked (for movies) and some rss feeds but one got hacked and is offline and rss stuff from say 300mbfilms is littered with b movies and junk that i can never have the time to scroll to find the top movies that get released digitally

Watched Babylon on Friday. While lots of it is underwhelming I must say it was one of the greatest cinematic experiences I've had in a while.

Soundtrack brought their A-game and I'm astounded that they're not nominated for more Oscar stuff. Not that anyone cares about the Oscars anymore, but they still carry the name.

Saw Wakanda forever….. to me it’s Marvels Justice league.

In the sense of 1 really bad idea takes 2 hours to fix and gave almost no time to flesh out any characters or for anything good to happen.

Justice league Superman shouldn’t be dead and Black Panther should have recast the main role.
