You guys gotta catch The Butterfly Effect. IMO, one of the best movies of the year. Starring Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. It's a thriller type of movie. Absolutely magnificent movie. For me, it's just slightly worse than Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. And that means it's just below perfect.

Also, try to catch Something's Gotta Give. Starring Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves. A big candidate for the funniest movie of the year. :D

How dare you point out my mistake in front of everybody!?!?!? :fero: For this, you should be suspended for 35.64423 seconds!!!

:p Yeah, my bad, it was Diane Keaton. ;) She's so gorgeous. Although I'm a NO-NO to old ladies. :D

I haven't watched much movies of late, thanks to an extremely packed weekend social schedule. :D

Anyhow, the last movie i watched was Lost in Translation. I absolutely love the show and was very disappointed that Bill Murray failed to win the Oscar for Best Actor.

Ciao,
Tim

Lost In Translation is a great movie and Bill Murray did a great job BUT Sean Penn did as well a job in an emotionally exuahsting role in addition to it having more depth...Plus i think they gave him this oscar not for this performance only but to sort of make it up for him for the many good performances where he went ignored.

Tim must have loved Lost In Translation mainly because it's set up in Japan, right Tim??? I kinda like the movie too. Anyway, I heard the Japanese were pretty upset of the movie because they were made fun of.

I didn't watch Mystic River so I won't comment on who should have won the Oscar.

Well as a gaijin in Japan, Bill Murray was pretty funny. In fact, i think Murray's performances invited more laughs for foreigners in Japan rather than the Japanese themselves.

I didn't watch Mystic River myself, but i understand Sean Penn's performance was outstanding. I must guess it was a close race then. I was disappointed not because i felt that Penn didn't deserve his Oscar; rather, i was more a fan of Murray than the former. :)

Ciao,
Tim

What the hell is a gaijin??? A food??? Of course Murray's performance invited more laughs for foreigners. But the local Japanese are mad that they're made fun of. Ecspecially in the part where Murray was shooting his advertisement on the wine. Do you remember it??? When he said something like, "Is that all he said???"

If you didn't watch Sean Penn's performance, how in the hell can you say that Murray performed better than him!?!?!? :D My good friend watched it and he said Sean's acting was top notch.

A gaijin is a foreigner. Oh well, it depends on what side of the coast you're from. To the Japanese, it seems like they were made fun of; for myself, i felt that Coppola was poking fun at the foreigners in Japan who act all high and mighty.

Where in the world did i say that Murray outperformed Penn??

I watched it too and it was good especially that it was done in Arameyic and Latin, gives it more authenticity and the fact that Jesus looked like he is from the Middle East also helped since the movies from the past all show him to be some Scandinavian guy.(No offense to Scandinavian guys u know i luv u but Jesus is from Nazareth/Bethlehem)
I would have loved it more if the movie was about Jesus's whole life and not just the last 12 hours because Mel Gibson is one hell of a director and his vision as a director is excellent.

I am looking forward to it because of Kate Winslet and Kirstin Dunst only...I heard somewhere that the guy who wrote it is the same guy who wrote adaptation, and in my opinion Adaptation SUCKED big time...The only thing that looks promising is that Jim Carrey wanted to do this one as soon as he read the script.
