Former Inter manager Luigi ‘Gigi’ Simoni has heaped praise on Inter talisman Mauro Icardi and shared his belief that Icardi and Ronaldo would have ‘smashed it’ if they played together.

“I hope that the renewal situation will be sorted quickly. Mauro is a great asset for Italian football and especially for the Inter. He is capable of scoring in any way and there are very few players out there who are like him,” he told Newnotizie.it.

His most annoying shortcoming as a player is his ability to just walk for prolonger periods in the offside periods when we are actively in attacking play. I swear to god half of the offsides he gets are far too lazy and him straying offside also puts a break on our attacks far too often.

Judging from today's and a week ago match I don't think he is currently any better than Andrea Belotti. I am sure he is a sacred Hindu cow here, but this is getting ridiculous, 180 minutes of play in 2019 and exactly 0 even remote chances to score.

Hopefully Keita is back and Candreva/Salcedo will have to get some minutes. Icardi needs to eat bench until he finds form again.

The thing with Belotti is that even when he sucks and can't score, he will at least move the ball forward, bully defenders, and give 100% which has its advantages. Icardi, when he can't score, does not really do anything. His movement is crap now and he is almost never where he should be. That last play when Lautaro put a decent ball in the box and De Vrij was there was ridiculous.

i like this guy but one the reasons that our team have a shit mentality is that this guy is our captain. you can clearly see other players dont give a shit when icardi shout at them and call for urgency in their move in other word they dont respect him as captain. we cant take back armband from him so its better to sell him if there is good offer and this time take a little time to decide who is worthy of captain armband.
