I think Icardi loves the club, genuinely. Although, that doesn't mean he has to accept the fact he's being paid a "crap" salary compared to other players. People here expects he goes like "I love Inter and I'll play for peanuts, that's cool" nah, let's not mix things. He knows he's worth more than that and I'm fine with it. Dude has proven his worth countless times over these 3-4 years.

Now, the club comes first, above anyone else. If we can't afford it the extension, then sell him. The thing I don't like is this kind of shit from Wanda, basically extorting the club publicly, that's not the way a captain should handle things (IMO Wanda runs the show behind the scenes, obviously)

Anyway, Inter can't afford dramas nor unhappy players right now.

I could make many examples why we don't have to depend on Icardi. A always good example is the first years that Juventus won again the scudetto. Was there someone really good as striker? Not really. They had a decent team but just important players like Pirlo that was a help to work together.

I don't expect Icardi to be another Zanetti, nor do I question his desire to get paid in line with all the other great strikers of the world. However, it's disappointing to see the team's captain, one who claims to be a true interista, resort to blatant lies and moral blackmail against his own club in order to get a new contract every other year or so. Would it be too much to ask him at least to avoid dragging the club into the mud every time he thinks he deserves a pay rise? A little more class wouldn't hurt.

I'd also like to point out that he does not "deserve" said pay rise. It's undeniable that he earns less than players who are nowhere near his level, but Inter are in no way accountable for other clubs' (mis)management. And if he's so pissed off that he earns 5m/year while a declining Higuain still seems able to find plenty of halfwits willing to pay him twice as much, perhaps he should start thinking that Wanda is not such a great agent after all...

Icardi signed a regular contract and, as far as I know, no one forced him to. If Inter feel like rewarding him for his good performances with a better one (which is what recently happened to Brozovic and hopefully will soon happen also to him and Skriniar), cool, otherwise he doesn't have any right to feel aggrieved. Just like Inter wouldn't stop paying his wages if he suddenly started playing like shit.

In conclusion, I believe both parties want to continue together and expect them to reach an agreement in the upcoming months. However, I'm a little surprised by all those who criticise the management for not yet having given in to his ludicrous requests (10m/year but maintaining the same RC). If we want to grow as a club, we need a good squad (and Icardi can certainly be part of it), but also to not let ourselves be pushed around any more, not even by our best player.

You'd understand that offer being ridiculed by any agent to be fair. I think 7m, while reaching 8.5 with bonuses, would be 'concrete and correct', to use our captain's own words.

He should also keep that kind of talk off of IG though. Dispel the rumours, but don't take sly digs at the club.

I think for a concrete and correct offer, he can fuck off with his agent/wife. I do think he's a great player but signing 5-year contracts when you renegotiate every year is childish and unprofessional. He should leave if he's truly unhappy. For all that's worth, we sold Ibrahimovic, who was a much more complete player than him and got the tripletta afterwards.

Now, that blunder of having a 110m clause is probably gonna bite us.

Forza Icardi all the way! We don't need people sucking up to the fans and 'selling' optimistic yet unrealistic shit. That's the Inter way.

I remember Zanetti was rumoured to be sold back in 2002 and 2003 and everytime a new contract was mentioned in the media he was like "we'll see", "we'll sit with the management and discuss" and then boom, he signs a 4 year contract in 2003 - 1 year before expiry - despite the media circus that he'd join Real Madrid (on a rumour of $$$ + swap for fucking Salgado ) and he's like "I am surely staying at Inter, there have never been problems during contract talks". This is the modern era, Icardi is no Zanetti but almost everyone under 30 or something is hooked on this Instagram/Twitter frenzy and they like to be vocal about shit.

The only concern is if the management (aka Marotta, and anyone who knows anyone around the club would have noticed a shift from "we want to do x" to "Marotta wants to do x") wants to cash in on him for whatever reason.
