If you only pay attention to him during the games you would be very hard pressed to find a single reason against him wearing the captain armband. We live in a silly time of social media, far older and more mature people than him do stupid shit and get caught up in the stigma of it. I don't care about his personal life, his wife/manager, his instagram post nor his tattoos. Just what he does while he is wearing the kit.

He is massively underrated as a captain. He is not the same meek little kid from a season or two ago, he has a far more confident posture, his facial expressions during the game, the way he does talk to the refs when they go over the line, he runs back to help out in the midfield far more than Adriano, Vieri or Ibra ever did during their time in this club. I feel like he realizes the importance and seriousness of the arm band and that he is putting an effort to unite the guys in the locker room. Look at all the birthday "cakes" videos for Inter players, that's all him. And even though I said this in a post or two ago I will repeat myself - he never ever dives. This is very important if you want to have credibility as a captain, at least to me.

Any captain with an ounce of sense would step down if half the squad was against him, but this is not that sort of situation. Here you have (if it's even true, which is yet unconfirmed to begin with) a small-scale mutiny of 3 players who have turned into a clan fueled by their subpar performances. And all 3 of them had quite a few shots on target in the past couple of games and managed to do jack shit with it.

Changing a captain mid-season is a really risky move and could also make things only worse. And even then - who would you give the arm band to? Handanovic is the only real choice but I'm personally strongly opposed to goalkeeper captains, they can't influence the game much and aren't close to the refs when it matters. D'Ambrosio or Candreva? God knows they try but they are not leaders. Miranda is the only choice but he just came from an injury and got injured again for at least a few matches. If it absolutely has to happen, I would like someone like Skriniar or Rafinha perhaps to have it in the next season. We don't have a role-model like Zanetti anymore so the next best thing is to have a player with proper fighting spirit be a captain.

the social networks stuff doesn't matter, i agree on that. he has fighting spirit, i agree on that, too. and i also agree about not changing captain mid-season.

that being said, i can't stand the constant negotiations for better wages, i feel it's not compatible with the armband. and that release clause feels like a Sword of Damocles.

Inter and Icardi have started talk for a new contract.

The club is offering:

6.5 million plus very big bonuses (CL qualification), no release clause.

Wanda is asking:

8 million, no release clause, small bonuses (CL qualification) or
7 million, 150 million release clause valid only for foreign clubs, small bonuses (CL qualification)

That's actually something I never think about. For how much shit he takes on his behavior off the field (regardless if it's warranted or not) he really does play and conduct himself amicably on it, no diving, rarely rages and doesn't harp on the ref for decisions for too long and is always focused on just playing the football.

Just a few weeks ago Icardi dived in the penalty box in the last few minutes of the game. I can't remember which games exactly but he did dive ala Pippo Inzaghi. So, the argument Icardi never dives is invalid.

He might have dived here and there, even though I think it's difficult to tell as a viewer if a forward dived or not because it could have been an off balance thing or something, but I still think it's fair to say that Icardi is not a diver unlike other, and more specifically South American, attacking players.

Our players don't dive! They just lose their balance.

Manchester United wanted Icardi

Mino Raiola reportedly tried to take Inter’s Mauro Icardi to Manchester United, but the striker wouldn’t switch agents.

The Nerazzurri captain is represented by his wife, Wanda, and is in discussions over a new contract.

According to today’s Corriere dello Sport, super-agent Raiola wanted to bring him to Manchester, and had an offer from the Red Devils ready to go.

The agent was ready to set up the move, as well as finding other big clubs for Icardi to move to.

However, Raiola also wanted to become the Argentinian’s agent, and Icardi confirmed that he wants to continue with Wanda.

---

Why would Icardi upset Wanda? She`s doing a great job asking for more money.

Well that sounds better if true.

About the contract negotiations. Not sure which one I'd take, with or without the release clause. Surely the wage will be negotiated a bit lower than what Wanda asks, but the conditions make sense. Guess it all depends how tight it is with our salary budget.

150m€ is anyway money only few clubs can pay so if we just remove the clause, we can possibly get more than 150m€ since those same clubs can also pay more than 150m€. I'd say 200m€ is probably some kind of limit in today's market (obv PSG ignored).

On the other hand, how many clubs are looking for a number 9? Real Madrid.

Maybe PSG? Cavani is only 31 and he doesn't have a place to go apart from China. Which I don't think he wants to move to yet.

it would be better (imho) with no clause but what we need from a captain is commitment (that's why i don't like the clause, unless it's so high that it becomes symbolic). and regardless of what they agree on, there should be absolutely no contract talks at least for 11 months a year.

8 million it is. Screw the release clause. You never know what's 150m worth in the future.

I can't understand the release clause by the management's side. What's the fucking upside?

When you don't give a shit about social media and then uses it as an example for how he has grown as captain

He is worth less than 110 mil, so even 110 mil is a big stretch in my eyes. Nobody is buying him.

Give me the name of the striker, around his age range (+-2 years) who is as good and can be bought for 110m€.
