Agreed. I think the only reason he played was so Dumfries could get some rest and Cuadrado was injured. This was actually an ideal game for Cuadrado out of any of our wingbacks imo.

Wingback is a demanding position and Dumfries needed a rest. Darmian did adequately. He doesn’t offer the attacking prowess of Denzel but he still did well.

Darmian's passing is generally underrated I feel. He's always finding clever little balls to play to help advance the team up the pitch.

This, his long balls are quick one- two passes are really good. Something Dumfries doesn't really do.

Darmian isn’t dangerous enough or posses enough of a threat on his own yes he is a fine 1-2 passer, but it’s not enough for a wingback to do such passes you also need to posses som actual threat on the wing and be able to often get down to the backline and on flanks. He is far more a classic RB then he is a wing back.

Yes he give some defensive coverage but it’s just not the main job of our wingbacks, but It makes sense to use him there when meeting teams who poses a dangerous threat there otherwise not.

With Dumfries we get more a threat and more driven and cut backs (he is shit at crosses higher in air but then who isn’t in our team)

Another boss performance by Darmian. Love how he never gets affected by these difficult matches. No matter who is the opponent, he's always the same boss. You know he's just having a bad day once he's not performing on his standards. It has nothing to do with opponent being too good for him. At this point he's a luxury to have in the bench, especially how he's capable of covering both flanks.

I don't see him as RCB, like AT ALL. He's too skinny and weak.
