De Vrij and Acerbi gives us size and strengh but not much more, Bastoni can do that. Our offensive game would be so amazing with Darmian-Pavard-Bastoni...

Please remember that Darmian is 33 years old and eventually age will catch up with him. Furthermore, Bastoni - restored De Vrij - Pavard will be more devastating in attack than Darmian.

Acerbi was ridiculously good last season and De Vrij has started off fantastic so far this season. You can’t mess with that.

Pavard will play and most likely even be the starter at RCB but having Darmian as depth (let’s not forget he can also fill in at either wingback position) is a good problem to have.

At the moment, Dumfries is our starter and his only sub is Cuadrado, who is more offensive minded and not that great in defence. Darmian being off permanent RCB duties means he can sub in at RWB whenever we need defensive solidity down the right, e.g. when facing players like Leao.

Just have Darmian on the bench to fill the holes where we need. If we need to defend and Dumfries goes off, I want Darmian there, not Cuadrado.

I would still have Darmian start against Milan since there is a break before it and it's a very important game, but in CL, I would start Pavard. He is a big boy, he can manage.

You don’t gamble when playing against an inform Milan side.

Generally you don’t change the starters in defence that are playing the way our defence is currently playing, hardly any coach will do that.

If Pavard wants to be a starter he has to prove he is the better choice when given the chance. There really should be given no freebies here. The way Darmian is playing he deserves the spot, for me its not really even up to debate. The most inform player plays this is how you get players to up themselves, not by giving them free rides, that something you do with talent not players like Pavard. Pavard will get his shot no one is going to play all 50 games.
