I feel sorry for this guy as he gives everything he has to win remember the lazio game but just by judging the few games he played mariano is a champ maybe not suited to our playing style but look what he did at palermo gliding past defenders and the game against Inter that we lost long time ago.

Waleed?

:p

God I love it that I was proved right, after all. Said it from beginning that Mariano "Freaking" Gonzalez is a great winger. It took ten months before he got the chance to show it, and meanwhile I was being mocked, ridiculed and whatnot for standing up to my man. Now Inter fans all over the websites, Inter-ratings etc. rave about the guy, wondering why he didn't get more chances.

Among all my shitty predictions, bashing of players such as Zlatan etc. I got to be finally right about someone.

Jimmy, you forget I attended two of the matches in which your boy supposedly played "great".

I just find it funny how he decided to step up after the games meant balls all to the end result. The away game to Munich was his chance to step up and make a name for himself. He choked and continued to suck for the rest of the season. He is a very average Inter bench player and I would not be at all surprised if he did end up staying and taking Solari's spot.

Jimmy you see Figo is a great winger, CR7 is a great winger, Quaresma is a great winger, a fit Robben is a great winger. BUT if you want to turn the blinders on an include Mariano FREAKING Gonzalez in that group be my guest.

PS: Khaled and Hal we have reached another historic milestone. The three of us are agreeing on something. Cherish it boys. But I suspect this has more do with being rationale human beings and being able to tell that a Ferrarri would roast a Corolla than anything else.

I do agree with Waleed and co. here, Gonzalez can just be a squad player and nothing else. He's defnitely a hard working player and all but just another Karagounis (loved Karagounis' stay in Inter).

u shame karagounis when u compare mariano with him

i couldnt believe we let karagounis go, he gave it all when he played

he knew what he could and couldnt do and then exploited the defense every chance he got or ran decoys because the defense was too tight

mariano was great! against who? torino? thats great he dived for 2 penalties

truth of the matter is, inter had him on loan for 1 season

his contract with palermo ended at the end of the loan

hes technically unemployed! he needs suitors and had to play his guts out

theres a very good reason why palermo let us have him on trade deadline day for nothing

Let's not put words into my mouth here. I'm not comparing him with Figo and the likes. Those are world-class wingers. Mariano is a great winger. That's very different to me. Never said that Mariano shouldn't be more of a squad player either. He just deserved more playing time, than the ridiculous amount he received this season.

No one can deny that Mariano performed for us when he was played at his natural position - right winger.

Well, I don't rate Mariano that bad as well. Karagounis and Mariano are both hard working midfielders and they give it all while they are on the pitch. Both are not starting material for Inter though but great squad player - Karagounis definitely is and Mariano can be one for sure.

Maybe you and I have different definitions for what makes a great winger. However I certainly can not agree with that label being put on a player of Mariano's quality. He is a decent player, nothing more.

Also I cant help but point out a flaw in your system. You say he played great as a right winger. He played very few games in that position if any (save the Roma game) and Inter do not require a player like that b/c we play with no wingers. Also you say you wanted Mariano to get more playing time, why? and at who's expense?

Jimmy please do not be foolish and tell us that Mariano deserved to be given more playing time. Tell me which midfield player he deserved to sit on the bench or relieve to help the team exceed what it achieved this season.

We played with Maxwell in midfield at certain points, plus we have had numerous of injuries throughout the season. Of course there was room for Mariano to play, even coming on as a sub. He was not part of the rotation system we had whatsoever. Didn't matter who was out, Mariano did not get to play. We preferred players such as Maxwell to be played out of position and so forth.

I agree though that Mariano didn't suit our system. Never denied that. But that doesn't mean he deserves to be ridiculed. After this experience, I am starting to see Tommi's point about Morfeo the whole time. Was utter shit with us, but was played as a winger the whole time and really wasn't given a fair chance. Doesn't mean I don't still hate that player, though. :D

Morfeo was lucky to even get an occasion starting place in the team. We had Dalmat on the bench who played very well as a winger. Even if Dalmat complained, I doubt Cuper would have felt very disturbed, especially with his strong characteristics..

Mariano is a different case, he hardly played any games in comparison to Morfeo. Morfeo deserves to be ridiculed, Mariano doesn't. I blame the management for grabbing this player on the last day of transfer market, they knew they needed some subs who could play almost anywhere in the midfield, but they got the wrong guy.

Well, Jimmy, Maxwell was played in midfield position, Mariano can't handle that position. But, Mariano definitely is an option for this team. It's not bad to have a player who can play as a winger, although we don't use them. It doesn't mean we don't use them ever, because he can be a sub player coming in when we need fast winger. But that is the case when Mariano accepts to be true sub player, not even a rotation player. Maybe it's better for him to be in smaller team (than Inter) and get big minutes.

mancio played maxwell in midfield and grosso in defense rather than the other way because his defense wouldnt be as easily exposed in midfield will additional coverage

mariano is utter crap in midfield, he cant even fill in for right back

maybe he should take a full career change into a forward and maybe we have the next henry

i could accept him as 6th striker and sell choutos

he wants to stay...

Mariano Gonzalez: "Al Palermo non torno"
16 06 2007

If he stays then OK, but we sould really get a more notable midfelder and a good replacement for Figo on the wing, as for Solari I'd like him also to stay he has been good in the games that he played with us
